Walking from New Jersey to New York and Back

October 7, 2015 by Brian CicioniLeave a Comment

Over the past 2 years, I’ve walked over the BMW (Brooklyn, Manhattan, Williamsburg) bridges, which connect Brooklyn and Manhattan. This summer, I finally walked over the George Washington Bridge and highly recommend it to any urban explorer. As a car owner who lives in Pennsylvania, I drove as close as possible to the pedestrian entrance on the New Jersey side of the bridge. If you are a history buff (like myself), I recommend parking at Fort … [Read more...]

11 surfers’ paradise spots in Sardinia to be visited as soon as possible

September 29, 2015 by Claudia Tavani2 Comments

Surf junkies travel the world to ride the perfect wave. A few countries have the reputation for being a real paradise for surfers – Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Australia, South Africa, Hawaii. Others, such as Cuba and Uruguay, are becoming more popular destinations to surf. However, not many know that at the very heart of the Mediterranean there’s an island that is rich in lush nature, mountains, beautiful small cities, unique archeological sites, … [Read more...]

Common Scams & Travel Hacks: 5 Things You Need to Know About Turkey

September 17, 2015 by Anam Nabil6 Comments

Disclaimer: this post is all written in good humor :) My most recent holiday, which is also the one that I get asked about the most - was to Turkey in early June of this year. I had recently graduated and there was no hope of a Swedish summer ever showing up (no surprise here!), so my husband and I packed up our gear, planned a spontaneous getaway with an open itinerary (like we usually do) and went on a quest for warm, sunny weather to make … [Read more...]

Delhi has always been a city of "Nawabs". The term Nawabs is a suffix for individuals who belong to a royal family indicating they can afford a life of luxury. The destinations highlighted below are available to all - "we live in a democracy" and are rated as several "must experiences" for a traveler who has an aptitude for exploration and craves something off the beaten path. So here we go... 1. Dinner at Bukhara Delhi With many … [Read more...]

Recycling My Steps on the Riesling Trail

September 9, 2015 by Cecile RiphagenLeave a Comment

Of all my short trips and long wanderings, Australia has remained my favourite. It has opened my eyes to the essence of travel, the kindness of people but most especially to the wonders of nature. Not being the one to spend days on the beach, I spent my time visiting places, hiking in Ranges, going on safaris and exploring areas by bike. Coming from the European flatlands, you learn to cycle immediately once you know how to walk. Cycling is in … [Read more...]

Scuba Dive In The Gili Islands

September 6, 2015 by Nikki Near And FarLeave a Comment

Just a ferry ride away from Bali are the beautiful islands of Gili Trawangan, Gili Air, and Gili Meno. I stayed on Gili “T”, where I put my new scuba certification skills to the test. And this was the absolute perfect location to do it! The water visibility was amazing and the ocean was teaming with an incredible variety of coral and fish. When I arrived and checked into Gili Yoga, I was half-drugged from the dramamine I had taken, just … [Read more...]

Get off the resort! Rivera Maya Mexico

September 3, 2015 by Kala LinckLeave a Comment

Drug lords, bacteria-filled water, pick-pocketers. Mexico sounds like a scary place. All-inclusive, sandy beaches, endless buffets. Mexico sounds dreamy. But how much do you actually know about Mexico? I knew that when a group of friends booked an all-inclusive resort in Rivera Maya, I wanted to get off of that resort. I wanted to see the real Mexico. Were my friends up for it? I didn’t know, but that wasn’t going to stop me. The next … [Read more...]

Broken Bridge, Dandong China – September 2015

September 1, 2015 by DaveLeave a Comment

The iron "Broken Bridge" was built over the Yalu River in 1911 by the Japanese. It was the first iron bridge over this river - later it was partially destroyed by USA military forces during the Korean War in 1950. The Sino-Korean Friendship Bridge sits right next to the "broken bridge" and is the only bridge in Dandong to connect both countries and is in fact one of the few ways in and out of North Korea. A Beijing Pyongyang passenger train uses … [Read more...]

Marriage, Bloodline and Leisure in Bohol

August 30, 2015 by Junfil OlarteLeave a Comment

To be in the shoes of a wanderer is to fully experience life and to ponder our own existence. However some places carve out a special place in your heart - places you must return to again. There is a mystery of why this 'pull of attraction' exists within yourself and no amount of restraint can stop you from revisiting. For me, Bohol in the Philippines is that place. It has been exactly four years now since I visited Bohol, its capital … [Read more...]

Prem, The Tour Guide I Met in Nepal

August 29, 2015 by Teh Chin Liang5 Comments

I went for a 3 days 2 nights trek while in Pokhara in the end of December 2014. Before arriving in Pokhara, I had browsed and read through an information-packed Taiwanese travel forum named “Beibaokezhang”: (strongly recommended for those who read Chinese) and used that as a tool to work on my itinerary and search for a reliable tour guide. I manage to contact a local tour guide named Naraya and after a series of bargains, he landed me a deal of … [Read more...]
