Zell, Germany

April 10, 2014 by Wendy VanHattenLeave a Comment

Black Katz and Tiny Bubbles Ahhh, the hills are alive...no, that’s Julie Andrews and Austria. Black cats and voodoo dolls…no, that’s Ricky Martin and Miami. Tiny bubbles...no that’s Dean Martin or Frank Sinatra or somebody. I do know we were sitting at an outdoor café along the hills of the Moselle River. There were black katz on every bottle of wine we tasted. In fact, every signpost and even the hills boasted pictures of black katz. No … [Read more...]

Ecuador – Chocaholics Paradise

April 9, 2014 by John CoffeyLeave a Comment

The first ´traveller´ to sample chocolates bitter sweet charms was Christopher Columbus in 1502, although it´s likely that the Indigenous Maya and Aztec people had already been drinking it for the previous thousand years. The cacao bean itself had originated in South America millions of years before and is now being reclaimed by its discoverers, yep, chocolate is coming home. Artisan and organic chocolate is the subject on every foodie´s … [Read more...]

Even the Natives Don’t go Native

April 7, 2014 by Joei CarltonLeave a Comment

We were in Paradise! There were six of us holed up in a luxury three-bedroom condominium resting at the top of a hill. From our lofty perch we overlooked the most beautiful turquoise water of the southern Caribbean Sea that surrounded the Island of Tobago with a fine-grained sandy beach that stretched in both directions as far as any of us cared to look. We sat on cushy cloth-covered deck chairs at our swimming pool, sipping our second or … [Read more...]

Stowe’s Simple Surprises

March 22, 2014 by Leslie CarboneLeave a Comment

Sometimes luxury is in the simple things. Driving the last ten miles along Route 100 toward Stowe, Vermont, I was entering another way of life.  There are no sky-scrapers, no fast-food chains, no billboards or even back-lit signs.  There are independent little one- and two-storey shops, selling cheeses and maple syrups and cider doughnuts. I pulled into the parking lot at the recently renovated Topnotch Resort and Spa and quickly ducked … [Read more...]

Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, Cairns Queensland

March 18, 2014 by DaveLeave a Comment

I have spent the last few days exploring the Daintree Rainforest (the world's oldest rainforest) from the ground; now it was time to see it from above the canopy level. Fortunately the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway is located just outside of Cairns. This is one of the do not miss Daintree Rainforest experiences. 7.5 Km of cable opened in 1995 and now brings passengers from near sea level up to 545 meters at its highest spot. Cable cars are … [Read more...]

One of London’s most elegant hotels is The Royal Horseguards situate on the Embankment overlooking the mighty River Thames flowing sedately along to the sea. This grand property has been the center of a seated establishment for many a decade and still offers warmth, glamour and service to its patrons. A Fine Day on Kangaroo Island, South Australia

March 3, 2014 by Dave6 Comments

As you get older and experience more you innately lose some sense of youthful exuberance and excitement that is fueled at times by that awesome and rare combination of place, music, weather and experience. It has been a while since I truly felt this unique and rare inspiration on my travels, but today, Kangaroo Island certainly rekindled this for me. On such a fine day I needed music. Other genres of music have their appropriate times to … [Read more...]
