New “Someday” Campaign from Virgin Australia, Delta Air Lines and Tourism Australia Offers 52 Aussie Someday Trips for Americans to Win

Virgin Australia, Delta Air Lines and Tourism Australia are teaming up to encourage Americans to visit Australia now, not “someday,” in their first joint U.S. marketing campaign, with a chance to win one of 52 trips.

“I really want to go someday” is something Americans say a lot about Australia. Beyond the major landmarks, few realize the variety an Aussie vacation allows, where to start or truly how close Australia is – only 14 hours from Los Angeles to Sydney on Virgin Australia’s daily direct flights.

To showcase just why There’s Nothing Like Australia for a vacation, the partners are inviting Americans to enter the contest by choosing from 52 (a whole year’s worth!) signature weeklong trips featuring the best experiences and events in Australia throughout the year. Each trip comes complete with a week’s hotel, roundtrip airfare for two and the featured Australian experience.

Discover Australia and Win

On AustraliaSomeday.com, “Someday” travelers go on a visual journey through videos and pictures related to each of the 52 experiences, which act as clues that hint to where in Australia the experience is enjoyed. Place a “pin” on the map of Australia at the location and – if they get it right – be entered to win that “Someday” trip. Hopefuls can enter each of the weeklong experiences for 52 different chances to win a trip to discover Australia now.

With its breathtaking landscapes, thriving foodie scene and so much more, Australia consistently tops Americans “must-visit” lists, but for many it’s a trip they’ll take “someday.” At its core, the 52 “Someday” campaign encourages travelers to stop waiting, pack their bags and start their journey to Australia today.

“We know the many Americans that want to visit Australia ‘someday’ are busy and that’s why they put off going,” said Tourism Australia’s Vice President, Americas, Jane Whitehead. “But we also know they deserve a great break and we want to make this easy – and fun. So we created a contest that will test everyone’s Aussie geography, provide some great vacation inspiration and, importantly, show how accessible an Aussie vacation is – and how each of these experiences can be enjoyed within one weeklong trip.”

“Participants can choose the experiences that appeal to their interests. Beyond Australia’s natural beauty and iconic attractions we offer one of the most exciting food and wine scenes, vibrant art, the oldest living culture on earth with stories 50,000 years old and lively festivals in diverse locations.”

“Someday” Airline Partners

With premier airlines Virgin Australia and Delta as partners, the “Someday” campaign shows how easy it is to get to Australia.

Virgin Australia Chief Customer Officer, Mark Hassell said: “We have been flying direct to Los Angeles for over five years and since then we have significantly expanded our network, now offering seamless connections onto 250 destinations across North America with our partner, Delta Air Lines.”

“The journey to Australia starts the second you step on board Virgin Australia – including award-winning in-flight entertainment, ‘starlit’ mood cabins, lie-flat beds in Business Class, premium bars and dining designed by internationally acclaimed chef Luke Mangan. This is complemented by our warm and genuine cabin crew who provide outstanding customer service for which we are renowned.”

Through the trans-Pacific joint venture, passengers can connect seamlessly between Delta and Virgin Australia’s three daily flights from both airlines’ international gateway in Los Angeles to Australia’s three largest cities – Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane – and then continue onto Virgin Australia’s comprehensive network of more than 47 destinations across Australia. Members of both Delta SkyMiles, and Virgin Australia’s Velocity Frequent Flyer program can earn reciprocal rewards and recognition throughout the journey.

Ranjan Goswami, Delta’s vice president – Los Angeles added, “We’re excited to be the first chapter in these Australian getaways by flying winners to our international gateway in Los Angeles. With our growing Los Angeles network and commitment to enhancing the customer experience in the air and on the ground, we know the winners will get their trips off to a great start.”

With award-winning service and daily flights out of major U.S. cities, Americans don’t have to wait another day for their someday.

Upon the contest conclusion on April 21 (11:59 pm ET), answers will be revealed for each experience and the site will continue to serve as a tool for travelers to build their ideal Australian trip, using the expertly crafted “Someday” trip itineraries (based on best time to visit, events, etc.) and Virgin Australia’s Airpass. Special offers from Delta Vacations and Virgin Australia will be available for those who entered, but did not win and still want experience their Aussie “someday” now.
