All Ive ever wanted to do is travel, discover the world and its foods and people, and share my passion for creativity in hopes of inspiring others.

I started this website in 2009, while working full-time in the travel industry and living on a limited budget in Boston. With only two weeks vacation to take each year, I made the most out of every minute outside of my office (and got my carry-on packing down to a science). After living abroad in South Africa for three years, I returned home to develop a website and career focused on communicating authentic and meaningful travel. I hope this website inspires you to pack your own carry-on and explore a new destination with confidence.

Im a California girl whos got an incurable case of the travel bug! I have a childlike curiosity that has gotten me into deep conversations with strangers, sparked unlikely friendships, and landed me in some pretty cool places across the world. 15 countries and counting to be exact!

I was born in California but grew up in on a farm in rural Kansas. I’m a diehard Jayhawk living in Atlanta for over a decade now, so I consider myself a Midwestern Southerner. My (more than) full-time career is in digital marketing tech and analytics, but I use every last hour of well-earned PTO to explore as much of the world as possible. I believe in the inherent value of travel, of experiencing new places, and in getting the most bang for your buck—which sometimes means finding great deals, and sometimes means splurging on a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Besides being travel obsessed, I have an incredible love for food, wine, family, friends and fun conversation. My hobbies include cooking, politics, reading, volunteer work for charities, oenophile endeavors, staying fit, and just trying to make myself a better person. I am always up for dancing too!

We are Mikey & Jana, and of course let’s not forget our himalayan princess cat Ke’e. We are two vegan gypsy souls that enjoy spreading love while traveling the world together. We are nomads in our hearts and true kids of the universe. We love each other and the life we live, that’s why we would like to share it with you. After getting infected from the travel bug for life, we’ve been happily sick ever since.
