Today we trekked to Foke Village - a collection of several thatched huts and a total population of 30. We waded through a strong river and walked in the shade through hundreds of palm oil trees - all covered with moss and a ferns. Panama Canal, Miraflores Locks – February 2013
The first ship passed through the Panama Canal in 1914, the USA transferred ownership to the Panamanians in 1999. Today the canal is being widened to accomodate larger ships on both the Atlantic and Pacific sides of the canal. Exploring Kokoda Papua New Guinea
Today we hiked to Kokoda - about a 50 minute walk. Our host family in Beleni village walks this every day for vegetables and fruit as that is the main method of transportation here. They said this is very short walk for them; I hate to see what a long walk would would be like! Hanging out in Belini Village
Taking survey of our trekking injuries so far, we decided to spend a rest day around Beleni Village.
