Guam Unveils Major Cultural Island Events in 2016

Guam-Palms(Los Angeles, CA) – 2016 is looking to be a big cultural and international year for Guam, a US territory in the Pacific. With two major international events, Festpac and PATA, plus the many other unique amenities of the island, 2016 is the perfect year to plan a visit to this tropical destination and to discover the things visitors can find only on Guam.

Guam Visitors Bureau is proud to announce that Guam has been selected to host the 12th Festival of Pacific Arts from May 22, 2016 to June 4, 2016. Considered the Olympics of cultural events, Guam is honored to accept the 2016 festival flag and will use this opportunity to showcase the colorful, 4,000-year-old Chamorro culture. The Festival of Pacific Arts brings together over 2,500 performers, artists and cultural practitioners from around the Pacific region for two weeks of food, festivity, art and the celebration of culture, heritage and human spirit.

Also for the first time, Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Annual Summit will be held in Guam from May 18-21, 2016. PATA is a non-for-profit associated that acts as a catalyst for the responsible development of the Asia Pacific travel and tourism industry. The 2016 PATA Summit will feature a one-day conference, a PATA Youth Symposium, the PATA Executive Board and Committee meetings and Annual General Meeting 2016.

guamOther major key events happening only on Guam in 2016 include the Guam International Marathon, which includes picturesque fun runs such as a marathon, half marathon, a 10k and a 5k that starts and finishes at Ypao Beach; the Guam LIVE International Music Festival, a two-day musical showcase, featuring top performers from the US, Japan, Korea and Guam, that is predicted to be the largest music event in Guam’s history; the Guam BBQ Block Party, the ultimate celebration of Guam’s authentic culinary traditions; and the Shop Guam Festival, an annual holiday event from November 1, 2015 to February 15, 2016 that features over 200 duty-free shopping deals, tours and entertainment offerings from around the island.

Guam is the perfect vacation destination with exotic beaches and lush tropical forests brushed with colorful flowers. There are tons of activities and attractions for visitors to enjoy year-round as well, including the pristine beaches, scuba diving into the deepest ocean on earth, the Mariana Trench, where divers can touch two sunken ships from World War I and World War II on a one tank dive, hiking to the tallest mountain that measures from the bottom of the Mariana Trench to the top of Mount Lamlam, snorkeling, skydiving, sightseeing, golfing and signature cultural events and duty free shopping at brand name stores, luxury goods boutiques and shopping malls.
