An initiative by the Brazilian Tourist Board in partnership with Sebrae will offer immersive and multisensory experiences promoting the world’s largest biome to international tourism.

The lushness of the Brazilian Amazon, a unique place of connection with nature, its colors, flavors, rhythms, culture, and ancestry. The Visit Brasil Gallery – Amazon, an initiative by Brazilian Tourist Board (Embratur/Visit Brasil) in partnership with Brazilian Service of Support for Micro and Small Enterprises (Sebrae), brings an immersion into the world’s largest biome to the heart of New York City from September 23 to 27.

The concept space, the art gallery, will allow visitors to discover Brazil and the riches of the Amazon through gastronomy, art, music, and knowledge about the way of life of the region’s communities in a multisensory journey. The gallery’s target audience includes entrepreneurs, tourism associations, tour operators, representatives of companies in the sector, opinion leaders, influencers, and international journalists.

The main goal is to present the Brazilian Amazon as a destination rich in diversity, sustainable, authentic, and unique experiences, increasing the interest of international tourists and generating new business opportunities that can contribute to sustainable development and preservation.

During the event, visitors will participate in panels with representatives from entities related to sustainable tourism, bio-economy, and the promotion of the Amazon, digital exhibitions by renowned Brazilian photographers and artists, tastings of regional cuisine by Brazilian chefs, and interactive experiences. On September 27, the gallery will be open to the general public from 1 PM to 7 PM.

“We will be in New York during the UN General Assembly, connected with President Lula’s message of warning and the need for global unity to address the climate crisis. More than 60% of the Amazon is in Brazil; the forest is a heritage of humanity, and its preservation is essential for life on our planet. The Visit Brasil Gallery in New York is an initiative to present to the world the immense cultural richness of the people living in the forest, our gastronomy, crafts, visual arts, traditional knowledge, and many possibilities for everyone to experience something that has the power to change the way we see ourselves in the world. The Gallery also brings a very important message: sustainable tourism is essential to keep the forest standing. Every tourist we receive can become a spokesperson for this message,” emphasizes Marcelo Freixo, President of Embratur.

“Sustainability, innovation, and inclusion are concepts that are here to stay, and Brazil is the country where the majority of the Amazon is located. Sebrae has been working on the preservation of our biomes through innovation. In addition to its Inova Amazônia editions, we launched Inova Cerrado and Inova Pantanal this year. We believe that expanding the program to new biomes signifies a consolidation of this strategy and affirmation of the bio-economy as a priority agenda for Sebrae’s activities. In practice, this means preserving our resources and generating opportunities, employment, and income for the population,” says Décio Lima, President of Sebrae.

Visit Brasil
The two main gateways to the Brazilian Amazon, Manaus, the capital of Amazonas, and Belém, the capital of Pará, will also be represented in the Gallery’s activations and experiences, alongside all the Brazilian states that make up the biome. These two metropolises, with architecture reflecting Brazil’s historical heritage, as well as their diverse cultural and gastronomic offerings, have direct connections with international market routes—Manaus with flights from the USA, Colombia, Panama, and Portugal (starting November 2024), and Belém with flights from the USA and Portugal.

The United States is the second-largest source of international tourists to Brazil: over 400,000 American visitors traveled to Brazil in 2024. It is forecasted that more than 720,000 tourists will visit Brazilian destinations by the end of the year.

Amazon – An Inner Journey
With the slogan “Brazilian Amazon, an Inner Journey,” Embratur, in partnership with Sebrae, officially launches the campaign to promote the Amazon to the United States on September 23, at the opening of the Visit Brasil Gallery. The campaign highlights the transformative journey that every tourist can experience in the Amazonian region of Brazil.

The films and materials will be featured on social media, in high-traffic locations in New York, such as bus stops and a billboard in Times Square, as well as on specialized partner platforms.

Embratur’s main objective is, through the promotion of this Brazilian biome, to increase knowledge about the region, raise awareness of each individual’s active role in forest preservation, and stimulate increased international tourist flow to Brazil.

Amazon at the Center of the Debate
During the Gallery’s programming, strategic partners will host panels and discussions on important topics such as COP 30 – which will be held in Belém, Pará, in 2025 -, bioeconomy, and innovation as alternatives for income generation, sustainable development, and social inclusion. The cultural richness of the Parintins Festival and the preservation of the biomes will also be discussed. The Ministry of Tourism, Instituto Arapyaú, the Brazilian Consulate in NY, Sebrae Nacional, Sebrae Pará, Sebrae Mato Grosso, the Government of Pará, the Pará Tourism Secretariat, AmazonasTur, Inova Amazônia, Uma Concertação pela Amazônia, the Government of Amazonas, Azul Brazilian Airlines, Amazonas Cluster de Turismo, Rotas Amazônicas Integradas (ROI), Amazônia Viva, Natura, and Oakberry are partners of Embratur and Sebrae at the Visit Brasil Gallery – Amazon.

A Journey Through the Flavors of the Forest
The Amazonian gastronomy, with its rich regional ingredients, will be represented by renowned Brazilian chefs who will command the kitchen at the Visit Brasil Gallery in New York, offering tastings to delight international visitors. Chefs Jaíne Mackievicz, from Rondônia, Débora Shornik, from Manaus, Saulo Jennings, from Pará, Ariani Malouf, from Mato Grosso, and Bel Coelho, from São Paulo, will present their authentic and creative dishes, while Yvens Penna, from Pará and responsible for Amazon Sour, will showcase his signature drinks. The açaí, a treasure of the forest, will be featured by Oakberry.

Amazon Translated into Art and Experiences
Eight digital exhibitions by Brazilian photographers and artists depicting the Amazon and its diversity of people, species, ecosystems, and landscapes will be on display throughout the Visit Brasil Gallery. The works of Kiolo (Salvador), Kerolayne Kemblin (Amazonas), Hadna Abreu (Amazonas), Rakel Caminha (Amazonas), Adriana Ramalho (Amazonas), Mike Bueno (São Paulo), Laíza Ferreira (Pará), and Sebá Tapajós from Street River Amazônia will be part of the space. The Amazônia Viva experience will allow visitors to take a 360-degree virtual immersion into the Tapajós River region. In partnership with the Brazilian Consulate in NY and the Museu Goeldi, visitors can also explore the Marajoara craft exhibition from Pará. Natura, also a partner of the Visit Brasil Gallery, will gift attendees with products made from Amazonian ingredients.

Brazil, the Country that is a Work of Art
The Visit Brasil Gallery is a traveling project by Embratur and, in 2023, has been to France, Italy, England, and the United States, promoting Brazilian destinations worldwide. This initiative innovates by bringing together various partners to display abroad the culture, traditions, nature, and the way of life in Brazil, a country that is a true work of art. In New York, the initiative focuses specifically on promoting the Brazilian Amazon.
