Two Lost Americans On A Borneo Rainforest Safari

May 24, 2018 by Two Lost Americans4 Comments

Just a smidgen before sunrise in the Borneo rainforest when a gray mist still veiled the chocolate-colored Kinabatangan River, the macaques and proboscis monkeys started dropping down from the trees in search of breakfast. From our motorboat on the water, we kept an eye out for movement among the leaves. The monkeys often traveled in packs, so many times when we'd see one swinging down to the river's edge, the rest of the group — either bachelors … [Read more...]

Elephants in Indonesia

December 7, 2017 by Okoro BenjaminLeave a Comment

When I was a kid I did not want to get a dog or a kitten. I did not even want toys for presents! Everybody was surprised by my wish because I expressed it from very small age and everyone was wondering why. I wanted to see how it does it feel to be next to the most gigantic animal on the planet. How does it feel to watch it walking, eating, and taking care of its children? I wanted to see an elephant. My wish grew bigger as the year was … [Read more...]

“At the water hole.” Addo National Elephant Park

September 30, 2017 by Pete MartinLeave a Comment

It’s a bumpy one hour drive on a sandy road to Addo Elephant National Park. Due to hunting, disease and colonisation, by 1931 only eleven elephants remained in this area. Although local farmers wanted to exterminate them, the South African government established the park at Addo to protect these endangered animals. Conflicts between the farmers and the park continued until finally the park was fenced. Now the park keeps around six hundred … [Read more...]

Safari in Botswana – Hospitable, Warm, Welcoming Botswana

July 8, 2017 by Mary Lyons1 Comment

You may wonder what there is to do in Botswana. This large country has only one major city, Gabarone, and Botswana is not greatly publicized when it comes to tourism. I’m not even sure how I found out what a great destination Botswana is. But at some point in my travel research, I decided I had to go on safari in Botswana, most famous for the Okavango Delta and Kalahari Desert. Genuine hospitality, beautiful scenery, not to mention an exciting … [Read more...]

Praise the Sun

April 5, 2017 by Mark NLeave a Comment

For many, yoga is a daily practice. It is a ritual they undertake in a class as part of a group, alone in the privacy of their home or, if they are very lucky, outside communing with nature. Performing the Surya Namaskar on a hilltop in the Serengeti was an unexpected, but inspired move by Demi Piriya who is a yogini who grew up in Thailand, but currently resides in United States. This is the story of how Demi found spiritual inspiration on her … [Read more...]

Mongolia, Land of the Horse People

February 12, 2017 by Abdul Rastagar2 Comments

It’s almost impossible to tell the story of Mongolia without inevitably mentioning Chinggis (Genghis) Khan. Seven centuries ago, he exploded onto Mongol and world history with a sonorous impact that still reverberates throughout the nation today. But there is far more to Mongolia than our fanciful musings of green, pastoral steppes trampled by marauding hordes of nomadic warriors on horseback. Indeed, Mongolia is a study in contrast, a traveler’s … [Read more...]
