Vero Beach, FL —The Vero Beach Wine + Film Festival, the new ‘’Summer Sundance,” today announced the second annual cinematic celebration is scheduled for June 8-11, 2017. The Vero Beach Wine + Film Festival is the only U.S. wine and film festival of its kind outside of California’s wine country. Penang – An Embodiment of Creative Disruption

May 19, 2017 by Jarard Paige1 Comment

George Town, Penang Much like the street art and street (“hawker”) food that seem to serve as the first definition of modern day Penang, the city is one that is best experienced through the senses. Though the city is still trying to create an identity for itself after it was stripped of such comfort during WWII, it is using vibrant, creative solutions to tell its history, share its beauty and humor, and redevelop itself as Malaysia’s thriving … [Read more...]

Istanbul Travel Tips even for the Experienced Traveler

May 11, 2017 by Mary Lyons2 Comments

, I sometimes go there just to roam the streets, take pictures, eat the traditional food and talk to the locals. It is possibly my favorite city of all that I have visited. I really could have benefitted from some Istanbul travel tips before I went the first time. I learned to do my research. The first time I went to Istanbul I felt an energy as soon as I left the airport. I believe a city is a living, breathing, ever changing organism. … [Read more...]

Undiscovered Dominica, Too Short of a Stay on the Nature Island

May 10, 2017 by Dave9 Comments

After spending four relaxed yet still activity packed days on Dominica I find myself staying in the midst of sprawling apartment complexes on neighboring Guadeloupe in the city of Pointe-à-Pitre. Mere 25 minutes away by small jet, Guadeloupe feels worlds apart. World's away from the unspoiled natural setting and the the pleasant feel of space when you have a low population density (only 72,000 people live on the entire island). Now I am … [Read more...]

SFO to Manchester Flight Launch!

May 3, 2017 by Preethi Chandrasekhar1 Comment

I recently had the pleasure of attending a reception to celebrate Virgin Atlantic's new direct route from San Francisco to Manchester. The event was held at the residence of the HM Consul General Andrew Whittaker who made the announcement, followed by an evening of mingling with journalists.  British food and cocktails kept flowing through the evening as we celebrated this momentous occasion for who doesn't want more non-stop flights from the … [Read more...]

Far from the Madding Crowd – Our Half Day Jaunt in San Francisco

April 29, 2017 by Fern LeeLeave a Comment

Where do you go with half a day to kill in San Francisco? We decided to eschew some of the more touristy hotspots and headed to Potrero Hills, the Mission District and SoMa to see the real San Francisco. We drove into the city on a Sunday morning when parking is free, arriving at around 10am. At that time in the morning, we were still lucky enough to find parking, although it was filling up fast. Our first stop: 18th Street, Potrero Hills. … [Read more...]

The art of Damasquinado in Toledo Spain

April 25, 2017 by Barb HarmonLeave a Comment

Damasquinado (Toledo Craft) can be found in many shops in Toledo Spain. While in Toledo, we were “pulled” (seduced) into a workshop where the ancient craft of Damascene is practised. We literally had just checked into our hotel, dropped our bags in the room and headed out to grab a bite to eat. We walked a few steps when I felt a few raindrops hit my head. Of course the umbrellas were in our room but my husband volunteered (aka- was forced) to … [Read more...]

Non Stop, Vienna to LAX ‘Sound of Austria’ Austrian Air Launch Party

April 25, 2017 by Dave6 Comments

I recently attended a memorable party for the launch of Austrian Airline's new first ever route from Vienna to Los Angeles offering daily (except Sundays). This party was held at a Bel Air mansion tucked away in one of the highest canyons - located at the end of a cul de sac. Cars snaked down the road - we used uber and walked the last 1/3 of a mile. A red carpet entrance greeted us with Austrian Airline flight attendents wearing a color … [Read more...]
