Road Trip Part 5: Pittsburgh to NYC

November 20, 2018 by Steve TaylorLeave a Comment

Some of the best experiences we have in the United States occur when traveling and some of our best experiences when traveling are due to spontaneity. I am always driving around the U.S., either for work or fun, and more often than not an impulsive detour is part of the agenda. One of the more enjoyable, and surprisingly economical, detours started off as a weekend visit to Pittsburgh, PA. It quickly became something more. Pittsburgh, … [Read more...]

Three California Roads Less Traveled

August 22, 2018 by Abdul Rastagar2 Comments

It's easy to argue that California is the land freeways and automobiles. And with its massive scale and incredible geographic diversity, there are plenty of scenic routes to explore. We've all heard of the world-famous drives, like the section of the Pacific Coast Highway through Big Sur or Mulholland Drive through the Hollywood Hills. While I have plenty of favorites, I'd like to share three lesser-known routes. There are, of course, many more … [Read more...]

Tai Chi in China

July 22, 2018 by Marlena FiolLeave a Comment

Our dear tai chi master, Dr. Paul Lam, and his partner Hazel invited us to join them as part of a small group on a two-week tai chi workshop/tour of China. Dr. Lam said he designed the trip to be “fun and serious, leisurely and exciting, like the yin and yang of tai chi.” This design of contrasts generated a trip of remarkable paradoxes: Absolutely clean wide modern streets and filthy holes-in-the-ground bathrooms. Great Wall preserved … [Read more...]

Foodlovers: The most unusual dishes of the world

June 13, 2018 by Jessica V3 Comments

Humans are like Ants. We can eat anything. Just ask the people who live in America and East Asia. In fact, you'll find foods in this world that seem like sprung from Satan's own cookbook. Not just that such food exists, but that people would actually stick this stuff in their mouths without a gun to their head. Suppose that, you have to write an essay on the weird or unusual dishes of the world. In this article, I am going to let you know … [Read more...]

Unsettling

April 29, 2018 by Marlena Fiol2 Comments

We entered a narrow lane crowded with shoppers, shopkeepers, motorcycles, rickshaws and animals. Throngs of people pushed their way past us, ogling us suspiciously, much like the dead fish lying in frozen ice in one of the shops, their eyes wide open staring at us. Above us there were twisted and tangled cables and wires, like spaghetti, hanging from buildings and poles. On each side were endless rows of shops with dirt floors and corrugated tin … [Read more...]

Paso Robles CAB Collective Wineries Producing World Class Bordeaux

March 21, 2018 by Steve MirskyLeave a Comment

Wine making may have begun in Paso Robles as early as 1797 with the Spanish missionaries but it wasn’t until 6 wineries were established throughout the 1940s that the region began developing a reputation for premium California wine. Fast forward to today where some reds, particularly Cabernet Sauvignon, "out Bordeaux" France's Bordeaux and rival certain internationally recognized wine regions north of San Francisco. The Paso Robles CAB … [Read more...]
