Anguilla is a tropical paradise of tranquility

August 6, 2010 by Phyllis SteinbergLeave a Comment

Thirty three beaches beckon tourists I didn't see any Kentucky Fried Chicken or Burger King franchises on the island of Anguilla. In fact, I didn't locate any chain restaurants on the island. A local told me that Subway once opened a restaurant on the island, but it didn't last long. There also are no large cruise ships, no casinos and no nude bathing. Cruise ships can't go to the island because there isn't a port large enough to handle them. … [Read more...]

Top 3 Favorite Trips & One Bad One!

August 5, 2010 by DaveLeave a Comment

Time spent using public transportation are good opportunities to reflect on previous travels. One does not always get to do this; when you are addicted to travel you are often thinking about your next trip even during your current trip. I came up with a list of my top 3 favorite trips and the one "trip from hell". #1 Trip to Nepal I took in 1996 - this trip really turned me on to International travel and the hardships I personally faced … [Read more...]

Notes On Ecuador

August 2, 2010 by AnonymousLeave a Comment

You open your eyes to find you are sitting in a cloud. The road is winding and as you pass each curve, the clouds gather, closer, until the fog outside the window is fresh and you can almost feel its powder settling into every crevice of your face. Occasionally flashes of green peaks, petals that curl upwards to grab onto the moist air. A comfortably slow conversation with your friend in the seat beside you, melancholic and then bright, like the … [Read more...]

Hangzhou: Marco Polo Called it the Most Magnificent City in the World

August 1, 2010 by Habeeb SalloumLeave a Comment

When I asked our guide to describe Hangzhou, he said: " We in China say, 'above is heaven; down here Hangzhou." His, were no idle words. They had a ring of truth. Marco Polo, the medieval traveller and the first Westerner to visit Hangzhou, was stunned with its beauty and described it as 'the City of Paradise.' China National Tourism has named it 'China's Best Tourist City' and other organizations have labelled it as 'China's Happiest … [Read more...]

Gone are the ways of the dungeon-like business center. At the Hotel Shangri-La, the concept of a single room business center has been banished, and in its place the freedom for the business traveler to enjoy the visual perks of the hotel's stunning beachside location. With the introduction of the VBS - Virtual Business Center, guests can now roam the hotel and conduct business in a spot that brings out their own creativity or lets them engage in … [Read more...]

Jamaica works her Magic!

July 22, 2010 by Dave1 Comment

Ingredients: Good People, Outdoor Adventure, Romance, Black Eyed Peas and a bit of Jamaican Rum (perhaps more than a bit)! We've heard that Jamaica has the most churches per capita and also the most Rum Bars - you can even find Rum bars at Churches - as well as on boats. This catamaran is no exception - they have a well-stocked mini bar. If there ever was an LA song, it is "I Gotta Feeling" by the Black Eyed Peas, but we will always remember … [Read more...]

The Secret is Out!

July 16, 2010 by DaveLeave a Comment

I'm currently staying at Secret's Wild Orchid Resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica on a trip sponsored by the Tourism Bureau of Jamaica. This resort is completely new having only opened about 2.5 months ago. I have been totally transported in a matter of hours to a magical paradise on the island of Jamaica. We hit the Barracuda bar for a tropical drink which was then carried steps away to the beach where our buffet dinner was awaiting under … [Read more...]
