April 1, 2017 by DaveLeave a Comment

About an hour boat ride (www.catalinaexpress.com) or a 15 minute helicopter ride from the nation's second largest metropolitan region lies the unpopulated Santa Catalina Island. Many people visit for a day but the island offers a plethora of activities to keep one occupied for much longer. Avalon is the largest town on the island with about 3,700 full time residents. In contrast, the second largest and only other town of any size is Two Harbors … [Read more...]

Top European Hiking Trails

March 29, 2017 by Connor CLeave a Comment

While some people tend to be instantly drawn to cities and beaches when they think of Europe, there is in fact far more on offer on the continent that most of us realise. If you are looking to try your hand at hiking … [Read more...]

Deep in the Heart of Texas: A Traveller’s Guide

March 6, 2017 by Andrew Kahler2 Comments

Many Australians have a vague idea of what Texas, and Texans, are like. While it’s true that you will see your fair share of cowboy hats while visiting the state, there are a lot of things that might surprise you. Taipei 101 – March 2017

March 1, 2017 by DaveLeave a Comment

Taipei 101 was completed in 2004 and was the world's tallest building for five years until that record was obliterated by the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. From base to the spire on the top the Taipei 101 stand 1,671 feet (approximately 509 meters). Visitors can enjoy good views on clear days by visiting the observation floor and deck on the … [Read more...]

A Taste of Hiking in Colorado

February 16, 2017 by Jessica Starkschall2 Comments

I love Colorado. I also love hiking. I’d like to share two of my favorite hikes in Colorado. MAROON BELLS (Aspen, CO)  Aspen is gorgeous, so of course, hiking in Aspen is spectacular.  The views while hiking the Maroon Bells are simply breathtaking.  I took the 6 mile round trip to the pristine Crater Lake.  The hike began with ease.  However, it quickly became an uphill, rocky climb and proved to be quite difficult.  It is not impossible, as … [Read more...]

Chasing Adventure in the Dominican Republic

February 14, 2017 by Preethi Chandrasekhar2 Comments

I'm standing at the edge of a mountain, taking in the gorgeous city sprawled below me.  I hear the commands "Run, run!" The body instinctively resists but I take a leap of faith and go. I'm up in the air before I even know it, the parachute lifting me up and away.  And just like that I'm paragliding in Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic. The name Dominican Republic more often than not stirs up images of a blue green Caribbean sea, and miles and … [Read more...]

Surprised in a good way by Taipei

February 5, 2017 by Dave8 Comments

I have flown into Taipei many times over the years but never really explored the city or the surrounding countryside. For some reason I never had any interest in doing so. However, after spending 4 days in Taipei recently, I must admit that my perception of the city has changed dramatically. For those who have never been to this part of the world, Taiwan makes an excellent first choice/introduction to Asia. It is easy to get around and … [Read more...]
