December 25, 2024 by Deborah GilbertLeave a Comment

The first photo in this article was taken by the author, Deborah Gilbert. Why do I love road trips so deeply? Traveling is in my blood. It began with my grandfather’s bold move from his homeland of Ireland in 1921 at the age of 20, to his destination in San Francisco, California.  The Statue of Liberty welcomed him, promising an auspicious future as he navigated customs on Ellis Island.  Road trips encapsulate the timeless allure of … [Read more...]

Following in the Footsteps of Stoker in Dublin

December 1, 2024 by Stefanie CaloiaLeave a Comment

In a 300-year-old library in Ireland, I sat in Bram Stoker’s chair. Walking up to Marsh’s Library in Dublin is the exact experience I wanted but never imagined when following in the footsteps of the author of Dracula. A heavy iron gate stood open, leading me through an arch in the grey stone wall. Places like this can be intimidating, but multiple signs along the way assured me it was open to the public. When I stepped inside I couldn’t help … [Read more...]

The Time I became a Local in a Foreign Nation…

July 20, 2023 by Michelle BorosakLeave a Comment

I heard it, I felt it in my bones, and my mind let go. Since I was a child, I dreamed of what this would be like, of what I would hear, of what I would experience, and this...isn’t what I imagined. Have you ever had an experience where your expectations are different than your reality? Where imagination gets the best of you and hopes get shattered? Now, now let me provide some context, it was my first time going to Ireland, my dreams were finally … [Read more...]

Once the preferred hangout of hippies and bohemian sea changers, it has since attracted forward-thinking … [Read more...]

Tracing my Sacred Places

January 16, 2023 by Cecile RiphagenLeave a Comment

One of my long-lasting and still remaining dreams is to visit as many sacred places as I can so I can feel the earth vibrate. Vibrate not only with all the feet that have passed before me, but also with the energy gathered in those special places. People have prayed there, laid their head on the ground or just simply sat to let the special energy wash over them. You come back different with an enriched soul and a calmed mind in an otherwise fast … [Read more...]

Play Airline Puts Iceland Within Reach of Budget Travelers

November 23, 2022 by Allison TibaldiLeave a Comment

It’s a courageous move for an airline to begin flying new transatlantic routes during a transitional time for the airline industry, but that’s exactly what PLAY has done. This Icelandic airline was founded in Reykjavik in 2019 by a team with significant experience in the aviation industry. They started flying to Reykjavik from the East Coast of the United States in 2022. I recently flew PLAY’s daily nonstop service to Keflavik, Reykjavik’s main … [Read more...]
