My Two Favorite Spots in Luang Prabang, Laos

July 22, 2017 by Teh Chin Liang1 Comment

After recently visiting Luang Prabang, hindsight has given me a unique perspective of the region. I can inform you that not all activities were worthy of exploration. Therefore, to save you the hassles of doing these non pleasing activities - I have whittled my list down to two top activities that I found the most enjoyable during my stay. Kwang Xi Waterfalls: Tourists will be coaxed into visiting the waterfalls soon after they land - by … [Read more...]

Pea Island National Refuge is for the Birds! Humans can visit. [OBX, NC]

Sunset at Bodie Island Light House

Many have been to Pea Island National Refuge when they drive down Hwy 12 in North Carolina’s Outer Banks (OBX) on the way to somewhere else. But, they may not know it. It’s a lonely stretch of road, often driven in silence as you take in what could be the country’s largest sandcastle held together by a strip of asphalt and a delicate truce with Mother Nature. Usually, vacationers are eager to get to their destination. They see this stretch of … [Read more...]

Safari in Botswana – Hospitable, Warm, Welcoming Botswana

July 8, 2017 by Mary Lyons1 Comment

You may wonder what there is to do in Botswana. This large country has only one major city, Gabarone, and Botswana is not greatly publicized when it comes to tourism. I’m not even sure how I found out what a great destination Botswana is. But at some point in my travel research, I decided I had to go on safari in Botswana, most famous for the Okavango Delta and Kalahari Desert. Genuine hospitality, beautiful scenery, not to mention an exciting … [Read more...]

Alaska: Wilderness Unbound

June 30, 2017 by Matthew Writer2 Comments

Alaska is absurd. Bears, moose, mammoth mountains, soaring pines, jagged peaks, water streaming past boulders, surging down valleys, crashing against sand. We started in South Dakota, attending a wedding in the Black Hills the weekend prior to departure. This was July of 2014. On Sunday, we drove to Denver, hopping an Alaska Airlines flight to Seattle, using two companion certificates. Our departure from Seattle to Anchorage was delayed. We … [Read more...]

There’s More to Huatulco Than Just Beaches

June 24, 2017 by Brooke Gazer1 Comment

Huatulco is Mexico’s, premier Eco-resort. The nine bays and 36 pristine beaches may be the main attraction, but this tropical resort offers more than just lolling in the water or baking on the sand. Huatulco is situated in the state of Oaxaca, at latitude 15 on the southern most part of Mexico’s Pacific Coast. This is where the Sierra Madre del Sur meets the Pacific Ocean and venturing into the mountains presents an entirely … [Read more...]

Road Trip: From Marble Colorado to Fort Worth Texas

June 20, 2017 by Fern LeeLeave a Comment

We decided to take a road trip after our holiday from Marble, Colorado to Fort Worth, Texas to visit some friends. It was going to be long, tiring and dusty. But we were intrigued by a number of magical and odd sights along the way. First stop: Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve. GPS tells us it will take 5 hours from Marble climbing over mountains. We ascend slowly up to 10,200 feet and reach the pinnacle of the Rockies on the 10th … [Read more...]

The Top 10 Reasons I Love Taipei

June 18, 2017 by Kaila Yu7 Comments

Taipei City is the capital city of Taiwan, a state in East Asia bounded by China, Japan and the Philippines. It is the political, economic, educational and cultural centre of Taiwan (or more correctly The Republic of China), a modern metropolis with a thriving economy and a vibrant tourism industry. People who flock to Taipei are there for the street food, the night markets, the historical artifacts, the hot springs and its many upscale shops. If … [Read more...]

Hiking and Hot Springs in the Rockies

June 6, 2017 by Fern Lee1 Comment

This spring, I was invited to visit rural Marble in Colorado and experience the great American outdoors. Growing up and working in cities all my life, I had never been on a hiking holiday before and Colorado was going to be my introduction to the American outdoors. I flew into Denver, Colorado before driving to Marble, a 4-hour drive away. A friend had a family holiday home there on the outskirts of Marble where they had been visiting since he … [Read more...]

Four Seasons in Two Days at Yosemite

May 15, 2017 by Fern Lee3 Comments

This was our first time in Yosemite. And we were told that Spring is an ideal time to visit - with the mighty waterfalls filled to the brim by the melting snow and the abundance of wildlife this time of year. We assumed the days would be filled with sunshine (warm at lower elevations) but cooler at higher elevations with the the tops of the mountains still covered with snow. However we soon discovered that the weather this time of year in … [Read more...]
