Salzburg is located on the banks next to the beautiful Salzach River in Austria - within a very short distance of the German border. This charming town is located about 3 hours drive from Vienna or a 2 hour drive from Munich. The appropriately named, Salzburg W.A. Because this is such a heavily visited tourist destination, tourists are only allowed to enter from one of the side doors … [Read more...]

Istanbul, Turkey – Around Istanbul

by Dave · Leave a Comment

A drive to the towns of Polonezkoy, Sile and Agva (all mentioned below) makes a fun day trip, including a stop at the Black Sea. The road to these towns and back to Istanbul is a small narrow windy road that passes through rolling hills - mostly natural landscapes. The author visited all of the locations below. Agva is one of the main weekend getaways for citizens of Istanbul. It is located directly on the Black Sea. As with many of the other … [Read more...]

July 1, 2004 by DaveLeave a Comment

The Doris Duke Museum of Islamic Art is one of the best western collections of Islamic art anywhere in the United States. This estate is 5 acres with stunning views and is located right at the edge of the ocean. Stand next to the pool and look out at the ocean - what an incredible spot! Arequipa is often referred to as the white city due to the white washed look of its buildings (made from sillar, the Spanish name for the volcanic white rock mined from local quarries). The city is located at about 8,300 feet in southern Peru and is surrounded by tall mountains and the prominent volcano, El Misti. However, it is only a couple of hours from the ocean by vehicle. The weather is dry, crisp and clear with pleasant days and cool … [Read more...]

Using Travel Agencies can be advantageous or disadvantageous depending on the situation and how you like to travel. Depending on the situation and type of trip, using travel agencies are often more expensive than planning and making the trip on your own. However, travel agencies will often save valuable travel time as they already have existing relationships established with guides and local tour operators.
