The G.A.P Top 5: Travel Memories

June 21, 2006 by Katie RossLeave a Comment

This was enormously difficult for me. First of all, choosing a top five is never easy. Ranking was totally out of the question! And then condensing days and days of vivid and rich experiences into a little summarized blurb was near impossible. I could go on and on but here are 5 of my fondest travel experiences. Montezuma, Costa Rica Body-surfed for breakfast after having watched the spectacular sunrise through my tattered tent door then … [Read more...]

Los Angeles, CA – Koreatown

by Dave · Leave a Comment

Los Angeles, CA – Koreatown lies in the western backyard of downtown Los Angeles and from this vaguely defined "town", on most days you can easily see downtown Los Angeles (unless its too smoggy of course). This is one of the more densely populated regions of Los Angeles as a result driving can be a real challenge here. Parking lots at the small 2-story malls are very limited, with narrow space, narrow lanes and exits. Trying to turn left is … [Read more...]

Los Angeles, CA – Comedy Clubs

by Dave · Leave a Comment

Los Angeles is home to a number of creative comedy clubs and other "laugh" outlets. We continue to update and add new comedy clubs to this page over time - here are just a few in the Los Angeles area.   Comedy & Magic Club is located at 1018 Hermosa Ave in Hermosa Beach. Parking is either on side streets or in a open-air parking lot almost across the street (3 parking meters are available and accept credit cards - you can check how … [Read more...]

Sydney Beaches, Fun in the Sun

February 5, 2006 by Peter WatsonLeave a Comment

Whether you're up for a Crocodile Dundee adventure or you'd just like a taste of the Australian sun, the beaches in and around Sydney can offer you all that and more. Being in the southern hemisphere, Australia's seasons are reversed from those in Europe, North American, and much of Asia, so if you're looking for good beach weather, make sure to travel some time from September to May - that is, spring to autumn. The Sydney shoreline encompasses … [Read more...]

Medellin, Colombia Welcome to Paradise

February 5, 2006 by Tom ThumbLeave a Comment

Plaza Botero, Medellin, Colombia

"Welcome to Medellin, my friend! Look at the mountains! Look at the women! I'll tell you a secret - it's called Paradise!" Although Medellin is considered the most dangerous city in Colombia, if not the world, the locals never stopped telling me that it was the most wonderful place on the planet. The food, the weather, the people, they insisted, could not be better anywhere. That isn't exactly the image that Medellin holds for the rest of … [Read more...]

Saigon, Vietnam – Restaurants

by Dave · Leave a Comment

Overall, compared to Thai food Vietnamese food is much less spicy and more bland. You can choose from a variety of soups (called Pho's), seafood dishes, vegetable dishes, rolls, and rice dishes. You can have an excellent dinner for around $10 - you can however, eat much cheaper than this if you like. There are also some excellent French restaurants in Saigon as well as coffee shops. The following are a few restaurants that Dave frequented … [Read more...]

Bangkok features some 50 districts - with 35 being located east of the Chao Praya River and the other 15 on the other side of the river (called the Thonburi side). We highlight only a select few major parts of town, some of these encompass several districts. The regions below are among the most visited by tourists in Bangkok and contain a majority of the city's attractions and activities. CHAO PRAYA RIVER is the lifeblood of Bangkok. It is a … [Read more...]

Bangkok, Thailand – Bars & Nightlife

by Dave · Leave a Comment

Bangkok is a great place to party - with its mix of bars, night clubs and both locals and expats staying up until the wee hours. With weather that is warm in the evenings rooftop bars have finally become a 'thing' in Bangkok - delivering great views over the city skyline paired with a variety of cocktails, wines and beer and usually small bites. So grab a friend, choose a bar and head out for a fun evening of conversation, drinks and … [Read more...]
