Cruising Alaska’s Inside Passage with Holland America

July 1, 2022 by Dave3 Comments

One of the great things about cruising is leaving the logistics to others. Certain destinations are ideally suited to cruises including Alaska, due to its vast geographical distances, remote landscapes and rugged coastal beauty. Our Alaskan Inside Passage cruise was on the Holland America Eurodam, a ship whose inaugural sail was in 2008. We first cruised on this particular ship in 2015 in the Caribbean. One certainly becomes spoiled, merely … [Read more...]

Al Dar Islands, Bahrain – July 2022

July 1, 2022 by DaveLeave a Comment

A trip out to these islands takes about 10 minutes from Sitra - an island within the country that is partially set aside for industrial use. Park yourself on one of the beaches during a weekday (to avoid the often large crowds that descend upon the island during … [Read more...]

Visiting Strasbourg, France with Children

June 10, 2022 by Maggie AndrewsLeave a Comment

There is really nothing else like traveling through Europe with toddlers. This is true for so many reasons, one of which is that they seldom seem to know just how lucky they are or how crazy it is that they are, where they are. Having lived in Germany now for a year and a half, we have become accustomed to hearing German daily. We have grown comfortable enough in our surroundings to explore and live. Though, when we travel to another country, … [Read more...]

You are relaxing on the polished wooden deck of your own private boat in a beautiful secluded cove on the Aegean Sea. My Highlights of a Visit to Cap Haitien, Haiti

June 1, 2022 by Dave2 Comments

Nonstop flights leave from Miami to Cap Haitien daily (only about an hour and 45 minutes) and the small airport is located only about 20 minutes from town. Arriving in the heat of the day it was a short walk to the entrance to the airport where musicians were jamming some local flavors. A quick breeze through customs (helped by the fact I was the first one off the plane), no luggage to pickup and I was soon outside of the airport where my … [Read more...]
