February 9, 2016 by Dave2 Comments

Everett Potter is an accomplished journalist who has written for and currently writes for major publications. He also manages the well-regarded site, Everett Potter’s Travel Report. Besides his writing prowess he is an accomplished speaker. I was reminded of his career and work when I spotted one his articles "Snowshoes, a Love Story" in the January-March 2016 edition of the Ritz-Carlton Magazine. I reached out to him and these are his … [Read more...]

Istanbul’s Secret Gems

February 5, 2016 by Serhat Engul2 Comments

Istanbul’s Secret Gems Visitors to Istanbul have a general expectation of seeing an exotic place at the easternmost of Europe. This expectation is definitely appropriate but what the city offers is actually way beyond it. It is not for nothing that Istanbul is regarded as a city founded on two continents. The city offers its visitors many examples from both European and Asian cultures, acting as a bridge between them. Sometimes you feel … [Read more...]

Saba Anyone?

January 7, 2016 by Dave2 Comments

I recently counted the times I've either flown, ferried, or come in on a cruise ship to Sint Maarten in the last two months; my arrivals and departures added up to 14 times (interesting considering I had never visited the island until late 2015)! During my stops in Sint Marteen, my eye has caught glimpses of the intriguing, mysterious and prominent shape of Saba (a municipality of the Netherlands) in the distance, sometimes clear, sometimes … [Read more...]

El Quelite, a quaint town 25 miles northeast of Mazatlán is the perfect day trip for anyone interested in exploring an authentic Mexico experience. Tasty Travel to Alabama, Florida Coasts

December 19, 2015 by Kara Kimbrough1 Comment

My love of the Mississippi Gulf Coast is unwavering. But every now and then I venture farther east to Alabama and Florida to enjoy their beautiful beaches. A few days with friends at Orange Beach’s Perdido Beach Resort was the perfect summer starter. New food finds took it to a near-heavenly level. Reality was left behind as we drove up the resort’s palm-tree-lined hill and entered terracotta stone walls. Ensconced in a glamorous cocoon of … [Read more...]

The Disappointing Northern Lights Mystery Tour

December 7, 2015 by Teh Chin Liang1 Comment

The primary purpose of my trip to Iceland was to see the Northern Lights. October is generally a rainy month in Iceland and the sky is usually covered with clouds; hence the possibility of seeing the lights is very minimal. However, I am by nature a wanderluster with a “play it by ear” philosophy and I believe good luck is always with me so the harsh reality of bad weather did not shake my determination to explore the land of ice and fire this … [Read more...]

A Sweet Stay on St. Thomas, #USVI

November 29, 2015 by Dave1 Comment

In 1917 towards the end of World War I the United States made an investment in Caribbean real estate with the purchase of what now are the United States Virgin Islands from the Danish for a cool $25 million. This turned out to be a smart investment; today it has become a popular destination from those on the mainland - especially escaping the colder winter months. There are a number of airlines that offer flights to the airport on St. Thomas … [Read more...]
