James Asquith, Youngest to Visit all 196

September 17, 2018 by Dave2 Comments

An even more remarkable was he started this epic and ultimate road trip when he was just 18. Recently we had a chance to ask him a few questions about his time on the road (he no longer has a permanent home) and he recently built and launched an app that has introduced an … [Read more...]

Volunteer Abroad For Less

February 20, 2018 by Caroline CLeave a Comment

Increasingly people want to escape the rat race and spend some time helping others from South America to the South China Sea. However, there is a catch, unless you have a couple of years spare to make a serious commitment with the US Peace Corps, who pay for everything, volunteering abroad isn't cheap. Typical program fees start upwards from $600 to an eye-watering $3600 which exclude flights, visas, and personal spending. We've found four … [Read more...]

September 1, 2017 by DaveLeave a Comment

The Silver-Haired Volunteer and her husband see the world through their volunteer efforts post retirement. This book chronicles their experiences in some rather lesser visited destinations including Senegal, Uganda, Namibia and in Ghana (working with sex workers). Outside their scope of Africa is a volunteer stint in Thailand - where they worked with gender idenity. Life overseas is certainly different then at home. Details of their … [Read more...]

Larger than life Texas Presidential Libraries

March 28, 2017 by Charlene ScottLeave a Comment

It is said that everything is bigger in Texas. This is proved true as Texas houses three of the thirteen Presidential Libraries run by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) are located in the Lone Star state. These libraries are unique as they are the only presidential libraries to be located on college campuses. The LBJ library was dedicated on May 22, 1971 at the University of Texas at Austin. St. Kitts Eco Park

January 12, 2017 by Dave4 Comments

As I was driving around the southern part of the island I stumbled into 'little Taiwan', an eco park that is a joint effort between Taiwan and St. Kitts & Nevis. I was told Taiwan requires young men to put in a year of military service - and for those that don't serve in the military, a volunteer position satisfies this requirement. I was met at the entrance by such an individual who was spending his year of service on St. Kitts. Jimmy Wu is … [Read more...]
