First Day Exploring St. Kitts

April 27, 2016 by Dave2 Comments

I met a Brazilian traveler today - he has not traveled much at all and this was his first time to the Caribbean. He did not speak a word of English so I ended up helping translate through his language barrier using Spanish as our common language. After what I estimated to be a 15 minute walk into town from the B&B where I am staying - turned into a hour, I was more than ready to rent a motorbike. I found a shop run by a man named Matrix who … [Read more...]

Discovering Wales’ Dramatic Pembrokeshire Coastal Path

April 18, 2016 by Kathryn P.Leave a Comment

With a rich history that spans through stories of druids, medieval castles and wartime conflicts, combined with national emblems that include a dragon, spoon and an odd shaped ball, there is a lot to demystify about Wales. One thing is certain however, the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path that spans across Wales’ south-western coast is one of the most enchanting places on the planet. Touted by National Geographic as the world’s second best coastal … [Read more...]

Amasya, a Gem in Turkey’s Black Sea Region

April 8, 2016 by Inka Piegsa-QuischotteLeave a Comment

As so often happens, it all started with a story. “Have you ever heard the legend of Ferhat and Sirin?” my Turkish friend asked whilst we were discussing some pretty interesting Turkish folklore characters of which there are plenty. “No,” I replied, ear cocked and pen poised, ready to take note of another tale for my growing collection. “Ah, it’s  so sad, sooo romantic,” she sighed being a consummate actress into the bargain. “You see, it all … [Read more...]

Greece’s Hidden Gem

March 31, 2016 by Preethi Chandrasekhar3 Comments

I recently discovered a secret Greece has been hiding from the world. It’s called Meteora. The town is a hidden gem, a few hours from Athens. Fully prepared to be swept off my feet by the island of Santorini, I fell in love instead with this magical place, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. My dad was turning 70 in September. I don’t know about you, but that felt like a big deal birthday to me. I could buy him yet another full sleeved shirt, or … [Read more...]

How to Stay Sane During Long Airport Layovers

March 23, 2016 by Melissa FLeave a Comment

We’ve all been there, and we’ve all begrudged the long hours spent waiting for our next flight in an in-between airport. If you’ve got some long layovers in your near future, consider passing the time with these boredom-fighting tips. Use What You’ve Got If you know you’re going to have a ton of time on your hands, and you won’t be able to go anywhere but the airport terminal, make sure you’ve got what you need to keep yourself entertained … [Read more...]

Sometimes The Unscripted Tour is the most Memorable

March 18, 2016 by DaveLeave a Comment

We disembarked the Holland America Line, MS euroDam and I caught a whiff of some crew chatter about some sort of strike on the island. I didn't think much of this at the time. Soon we were driving through the "Dutch" countryside and a few minutes later we were driving through the "French" countryside. The island of St. Martin is a divided territory between the Dutch and the French - on the French side the Euro is used and the Dutch still use (at … [Read more...]

Nature Tour of Bangkok? You’ve Got to be Kidding, Right?!

March 4, 2016 by Dave2 Comments

When I first signed up for the Follow Me Siam Sawan 'Jungle Tour' I cursorily glanced at the itinerary and assumed this would be an urban jungle tour - especially since their office is located in Sathorn, right in Bangkok's Financial District. I also assumed it would be a sweaty tour with rivulets of water running off of us after just a few minutes in the saddle and also traffic would be terrible (a Monday morning). Unbelievably neither of … [Read more...]
