Landing in Paradise, St. Barths

November 23, 2016 by Dave4 Comments

The southern side of the island of St. Barths where the D211 highway meets the ocean again feels like a number of now built up island tourist hubs would have felt 60 years ago. A few homes are visible between the green of the vegetation and dot parts of the hillside, but that is it. There are no high rise condo's here or mass tourism. However, with a little 'vision' one can clearly see an unfortunate busy alternative. From where I am staying … [Read more...]

City Guide: Museums in Bloemfontein

November 20, 2016 by Ninette MinLeave a Comment

Bloemfontein is the judicial capital of South Africa and is the sixth largest city in the country. It’s not particularly famed for its tourism but rather as one of the largest maize and wheat producing regions of the country. Bloemfontein has a deep-rooted Afrikaner history with so many interesting museums and battlefields to explore. So if you enjoy history, then Bloemfontein should be one of the cities on your South African travel … [Read more...]

Driving the Denali Highway

November 12, 2016 by Chris Picardi1 Comment

During our eight days in Alaska, I don't think we had a single bad view, and the Denali Highway was no exception. The 135 mile, mostly-unpaved road connects the town of Cantwell to Paxson and was once the only road providing access to Denali National Park. Due to harsh winter conditions, the road is closed from October through mid-May, but if you have the opportunity to drive this road during the summer months, it will not disappoint. If you … [Read more...]

5 Games That Are Great for Travelling

October 20, 2016 by Linda CLeave a Comment

The actual time spent travelling is often considered to be the dullest part of travelling. You have to sit on the train, bus, plane, or whatever and simply wait until you arrive at your final destination. And even if you’re driving yourself it isn’t too thrilling either, especially if you are driving for many hours, without a break. Fortunately, now we have a lot more options compared to only few decades ago, let alone a century ago. Moreover, … [Read more...]

October 5, 2016 by Dave2 Comments

NEW YORK, OCTOBER 4, 2016 — Every fall, approximately 10,000 tourists from around the world descend on “The Polar Bear Capital of the World,” Churchill, Manitoba. This community of about 800 people on Hudson Bay in Northern Canada is home to the annual migration of more than 1,000 hungry polar bears that pass through town as they wait for the Bay ice to return. Swim with Dolphins: Good Idea?

October 3, 2016 by Natalie Tanner2 Comments

It doesn’t take much looking these days when exploring travel options to come across adventures involving animals. There are LOTS of photos of people smiling with a wide variety of animals from their travels and adventures. You can swim with dolphins in Hawaii, stingrays (San Antonio, TX Sea World),and even sharks (Disney Aulani in Kapolei, HI)! On every continent there are animals to encounter and experiences to add to your memories – riding … [Read more...]

September 19, 2016 by Dave DronacharyaLeave a Comment

If you are thinking that the title of this article sounds a little familiar, you’re surely a marvel fan and will enjoy reading the rest of this blog. Traveling and travel writing has been more than just a profession for me. Exploring new places, immersing in a foreign culture, meeting new people, and taking up extreme adventure tours; all this completes me.   I like to do this the local way, as I feel that traveling like a local provides an … [Read more...]

Backyard Bears in New Hampshire

September 11, 2016 by Chris Picardi3 Comments

Last week, we had the unexpected pleasure of discovering black bears in the Outer Banks. While our bear itch had been sufficiently scratched, when we heard a rumor that there had been recent bear sightings in and around our New Hampshire stomping grounds, it was a foregone conclusion that our weekend would include another bear safari. We drove in the direction of the rumored bear sightings, and came across a couple standing in their driveway. … [Read more...]

Chasing Waterfalls in Samana

September 9, 2016 by Jacki Ueng3 Comments

There is a famous song in the 90's by TLC which advised not to chase waterfalls, but to stick with the rivers and lakes that you are used to. But what if you could have it all? I believe that we should chase waterfalls, metaphorically and physically. If we don't chase after waterfalls to places and dreams we aspire for, then how would we ever reach paradise? I set out on a journey to Dominican Republic in June for the first time to a … [Read more...]
