November 30, 2012 by Dave1 Comment

Backpacking around Europe doesn’t mean leaving your iPhone at home. Backpacking has become a hugely popular holiday choice in the US, with more holiday makers opting for a back to basics experience. The low-cost form of travel is renowned as one of the best ways to get to grips with a country’s culture and society. However, fitting all the items you need in a single backpack can be a struggle. Hanging out in North Eastern China

November 29, 2012 by Dave4 Comments

I am currently in North Eastern China for some wine and tourism related fun. I'm with Sandi and John, the owners of Arns Winery and Bob and Nancy of Montagana Estate (both premium Napa wineries). We spent the day shopping around Beijing and trying to stay indoors out of the frigid cold. Headed up to Shenyang in the evening - where the temperatures are even colder than Beijing! Today we walked around Shenyang's version of Beijing's Forbidden City … [Read more...]

Possible Himalayan Trek to Sikkim

November 27, 2012 by Dave2 Comments

I've been to India several times already; earlier this year I secured a 10 year multiple entry visa, for more exploring within this amazing country. We visited Chennai in July for my sister's wedding - as expected, the weather was hot and humid - frequent dips in the pool made the weather more bearable. It was nice to visit Southern India for the first time - although we were missing the mountains. A few years ago we got to experience the … [Read more...]

November 17, 2012 by DaveLeave a Comment

Dave with the "Iron Chef"

The Napa Valley is the only region in the world where I can go to an event and feel right at home because I know so many people and instantly recognize so many faces - and that feels good. Flavor Napa valley is the latest in a number of world-class food and wine events to come to Napa. This is only its 2nd year; the event features five days of incredible food, wine, and education. The neighbouring countries of Romania and Bulgaria in particular, are up and coming ski destinations. A Belgian Food Primer

November 16, 2012 by Allison TibaldiLeave a Comment

Belgium may be a nation of diminutive size, but it is doing big things in the culinary arena. On a recent trip to this food-obsessed nation, I was able to explore the edible delights that provide visitors a feast fit for the most demanding foodie. Budget-minded gastronomes should note some of Belgium's best dishes are street food, served at easy on the wallet prices. Fries Though called French fries, Belgium is the birthplace and the … [Read more...]
