huaraz cordillera blanca andes

In every inspiring natural creation there is a realism that speaks to you. In every moment on a mountain you find it more and more. You discover yourself in ways not possible through other means. This stays with you and guides you for the rest of your life. May everyone have this chance at least once. ~ Dave Remember, the key to getting high is not "the herb", but rather time spent acclimatizing ~ Dave Huaraz (population … [Read more...]

Kruger National Park

February 5, 2012 by DaveLeave a Comment

If your looking for a Big Game Drive, look no further than the huge Kruger National Park in South Africa. Day visits are the cheapest way to see the park but there are a number of lodges within the park boundaries (more expensive then some of the nearby outside of the park accommodations). We took advantage of our early morning arrival time and drove on dirt roads all day on our own "big game drive". We came across three of the "Big Five" - Cape … [Read more...]

Hlwane National Park Swaziland

February 3, 2012 by Dave6 Comments

We rode into the National Park today in our little Honda Jazz. Many of the roads are more suited for soft 4wd and the park has erected large dirt burms every 20 meters or so on these roads to stop passenger vehicles from driving. That didn't stop us however! We popped over each burm and drove through mud puddles from recent rains - trying to avoid bottoming out the vehicle and or getting stuck. Getting stuck is a bad thing out here - you are in … [Read more...]

Palau Features Natures Most Unique, One-of-a-Kind Attractions…Swimming with Jellyfish

February 3, 2012 by Molly BLeave a Comment

"Swimming in warm, golden Jellyfish Lake, I'm surrounded by friendly intelligent jellyfish," writes travel journalist and photographer Sharon Spence Lieb. "At first I'm afraid I'll be stung. Who would ever think jellyfish could be so harmless? I'll remember this sensational wildlife … [Read more...]

Swaziland

February 1, 2012 by DaveLeave a Comment

The Kingdom of Swaziland is small and you can easily see the major attractions within 4-5 days or longer if you prefer spreading the driving out over a longer period of time. The oldest mine in the world is here and dates back 43,000 years!! We drove in just after the the visitor center had closed for the day but … [Read more...]
