Dublin, 8th September: Aer Lingus, the Irish flag carrier, is inviting explorers to experience all that Ireland has to offer this fall.

As the summer crowds fade, the Emerald Isle still offers a magical blend of culture, nature, and celebration. From September to December, the country embraces the shorter days with a rich calendar of events and experiences.

With the Aer Lingus Sale offering flights to Ireland from $339* roundtrip, there’s never been a better time to book that adventure.

Halloween in Ireland
Did you know Halloween is originally an Irish celebration? Long before costumes and candy, Halloween began as an ancient Celtic festival known as Samhain (pronounced sow-in) Rooted in ancient traditions, it marked the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter – a time it was believed that the boundary between the living and the spirit world grew thin.

Visitors can delve into Ireland’s enigmatic past with tours of its mystic castles and houses, such as Leap Castle in Offaly (believed to be the most haunted in Ireland). For those hoping to learn about the Irish capital’s haunted history, the Dublin Ghostbus Tour is sure to frighten and fascinate.

Scenic Walks & Road Trips
The cooler weather makes it an ideal time to explore the breathtaking Irish countryside. Whether you’re hiking in Killarney National Park, strolling through Phoenix Park in Dublin, or taking a scenic drive along the Wild Atlantic Way, the autumn colors add a breathtaking backdrop to every journey.

Visitors to the Emerald Isle from the US can fly directly into Dublin or Shannon, with the latter giving easy access to the rural beauty of counties of Kerry, Clare, Galway and Tipperary.

Explore Ireland’s Rich Heritage
For rainy days or cozy afternoons, Ireland has a rich offering of museums and guided tours for visitors to explore.

These include the EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum, located in Dublin’s Docklands, which shines a light on Ireland’s history and its diaspora, and The National Museum of Ireland, which is home to over two million artifacts from Ireland’s past. For contemporary art lovers, IMMA – Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin’s trendy Kilmainham is worth exploring while nearby Kilmainham Gaol is a must-visit for travelers interested in understanding Ireland’s once turbulent past.

Sports
The Pittsburgh Steelers are making history this fall, playing in the first-ever NFL regular season game in Ireland on Sunday, Sept. 28 where they will face the Minnesota Vikings at Dublin’s iconic Croke Park.

You don’t need tickets to the game to experience all that Croke Park has to offer, with a stadium tour giving visitors an introduction to Gaelic games. For horse racing fans, the Listowel Festival in late September is a week of entertainment and racing in the heart of County Kerry.

Live Music
There’s nothing cozier than escaping the elements in a cozy pub with live music. Across Ireland, there’s no shortage of places to go and unwind and listen to traditional music played. In Dublin, the city’s Temple Bar region has heaps of lively venues where you can enjoy local musicians at their best, while sipping a pint or enjoying some local fare.

Traditional dishes like hearty beef and Guinness stew, coddle, and fresh fish and chips (fries) are sure to warm weary travelers after a day exploring the sights and sounds of Ireland.
