Visitors can Stay Fit and Enjoy City-wide Discounts While Taking in the Ojai Art Festival And Ojai Film Festival, Which Kicks Off Nov. 7 Through Nov. 24, 2013

The Oaks at Ojai has always embraced all things Ojai. From the local artisans and craftsmen’s’ work showcased around and in the spa, to the rotating art that is displayed throughout the property and grounds, many from the Ojai Studio Artists. This year, more than ever, The Oaks is a hub of artistic activity and a perfect central location for guests to get their fill of fitness and art, from fitness theme weeks, resident artists, being an Ojai Art Festival venue and offering discounts to Festival attendees.

Theme Weeks:
At no additional charge to all guests, The Oaks offers the following themed weeks:

Nov. 9-10 Letting Go Of Adult Offspring, Annat Provo shows us how to gracefully set your adult children free and then reinvent and frame your life with meaning!

Nov. 11 – 15 On The Ball Training: Stretch – Tone – Play, all on the ball! Stability ball training is a great way to multi-task your workouts. Train any muscle group with the ball and you’ll be working your core too! Extra classes daily provide greater value and focus.

Artist in Residence:
Sandy Wolk is the first artist in residence at The Oaks with several pieces inside the spa and on the grounds. A “spiritual artist,” she is on site twice a month and gives tours and talks about her creations. In the meantime guests can enjoy six of Wolk’s sculptures in and around the property. Sandy’s work is of The Sacred Feminine. She states Art is a language that speaks to the soul. Through symbols, images and moods the artist takes the viewer on a sacred journey, ultimately toward their own divine nature. Sandy states, “I am deeply honored to be the vehicle by which this magnificent, awakening essence of sacred feminine soul expresses herself. Through her sacred power, her tenderness, her wisdom, and her love she breathes life into all that I create.”

Ojai Art Festival:
The Oaks amongst the 40 local venues being used as a location for portions of the work. Each venue is offering discounts of value-added items for OAF attendees, with The Oaks offering 20 percent off massages and facials. See list of venues and discounts here

This year the Ojai Art Festival will collaborate with the Ojai Film Festival by doing an art festival around an environmental theme in conjunction with Focus Earth, a segment of the festival that brings awareness, through film, to the environmental challenges of our time.

The Ojai Art Festival is holding an international juried show of art from trash, discarded objects and materials. The art will be shown in approx. 40 shops, restaurants and galleries in Ojai from November 7 thru November 24, 2013. The opening weekend is November 7-10, coinciding with the Ojai Film Festival’s Focus Earth screenings. Every year, nearly 4,500 people attend the film festival events. It is our goal to stimulate environmental awareness, encourage conservation, and promote new ways of thinking about art, sustainability, and the environment.

DISCARTED asks artists to work with trash, discarded objects and materials to raise questions and ideas, aesthetic and moral, about the life of the planet our wasteful society threatens.
