The Swans of Galway City Canals

June 28, 2013 by Kevin LydonLeave a Comment

Galway City, Ireland is one of my favorite places to visit on the planet. Most people associate Galway with vibrant night life, the Cliffs of Moher or the Aran Islands but if you take time to examine the little things you will find Galway has a lot more to offer. The swans of Galway City are one of the highlights when I recall my times exploring the city. There is a large population of these swans in Galway; they can be fairly friendly, that is … [Read more...]

If You Can’t Beat ‘Em

June 21, 2013 by JenLeave a Comment

My husband Gaz and I donned our raingear and headed to Nanjing Lu, the main pedestrian thoroughfare and shopping district of Shanghai. Big, bright, neon and modern, much of Shanghai’s architecture resembled a caricature of what someone in the 50s thought “The Future” would look like. Shimmering glass buildings covered in a rainbow of glowing signs flanked the wide walkway.  The streets heaved with people, and in the sea of short, black haired … [Read more...]

(Palau, Micronesia --- June 20, 2013) --- Known for its world-class scuba diving conditions, Palau is host to a whole range of options for adventure seekers. In addition to being one of Jacques Cousteau’s favorite dive destinations, this Micronesian paradise is also one of Survivor TV’s Jeff Probst’s favorite places on earth. It’s no wonder…the remote location is free of commerciality and truly a genuine eco-environment, which is not at all … [Read more...]

Ancient To Modern in Miami

June 18, 2013 by Penny Sadler4 Comments

Spanish Monastery, Miami, Florida @PennySadler 2014

Imagine a trip to Miami - fun in the sun, sand, and on the water; palm trees swaying in the breeze, tropical fruity drinks, tanning lotion, and dancing until dawn. But there's more to Miami than beaches and bars. It's a city full of history, culture, and architecture. These little gems - these not so typical tourist attractions - really tell the story of the city. Each time I go to Miami, I find some new cultural or historical treasure. It’s a … [Read more...]

How Cuba Changed my Perception of Humanity and Restored Hope

June 10, 2013 by Andrea MacEachern2 Comments

I’ve taken a number of great vacations in my lifetime. Each vacation I’ve taken has left me with fond memories, valuable lessons, new friends, new-found knowledge and a new outlook on my surroundings and the world at large but one recent vacation, in particular, left me with more than I could ever imagine gaining from a week-long trip.  I didn’t have to travel very far to this destination.  In fact, I technically didn’t even have to leave the … [Read more...]
