A Weekend in Niagara

October 18, 2013 by Stephanie MayoLeave a Comment

Horseshoe falls

A weekend in Niagara was a great way to wrap up the summer.  Bright lights, attractions abound, shows, casinos and the beautiful landscape of parks and the world famous Niagara Falls made it feel like an amusement park for adults and children alike, or like Canada's Las Vegas. A trip to Niagara affords an endless supply of things to do and see, from the thundering Niagara Falls where you can Journey Behind the Falls and ride the Maid of the … [Read more...]

The Howler Monkeys of Nicaragua

September 29, 2013 by Kim HornsbyLeave a Comment

A deafening jungle downpour assaulted the clay roof of my cousin, Rob’s Nicaraguan ranch house. Lying snug in bed, I foresaw the cancellation of our excursion at first light to track the elusive Mantled Howler Monkeys. Every day for the last week, I’d been woken by the guttural roaring of howlers somewhere off in the Mombacho jungle, but I had yet to lay eyes on one. The fierce rain was so loud from inside the house that even if they were calling … [Read more...]

Drink It All In With A Guide To Telluride’s Best Spots For Imbibing

September 11, 2013 by DaveLeave a Comment

TELLURIDE, Colo. (September 10, 2013) – In the early 1900s, 35 establishments existed for thirsty drinkers to belly up to the bar in Telluride. Despite the front pages of the local newspapers, The Daily Journal and San Miguel Examiner reporting the town would “abide strictly by the law no matter what the loss”, you could get a drink just about anywhere, including the courthouse. When the taps went dry, speakeasies and soda parlors took over … [Read more...]

The Power of Experiential Travel, Speech in Seattle

September 1, 2013 by DaveLeave a Comment

When my friend invited me to make a speech to some of his investment clients at a location in downtown Seattle about some of my travel adventures I jumped at the opportunity. With the challenge of creating a speech for his "mixer" I came up with one titled, "The Power of Experiential Travel" - in summary highlighting a number of my interesting adventures from around the world and finishing with some lessons learned from all these … [Read more...]

VenturaCountyWest: Laid-Back Fun

August 17, 2013 by Diane RumbaughLeave a Comment

It may be hard to believe, but not far from Los Angeles (about an hour’s drive depending on traffic) are thousands of acres of avocado and lemon groves, fields of strawberries, raspberries, celery, tomatoes, peppers and cut flowers--not to mention a palm tree farm or two. Where is this place? It’s Ventura County, in particular, the three cities of Camarillo, Oxnard and Ventura known as VenturaCountyWest. Because of its agricultural roots … [Read more...]

Sexy Vermont: 50 Shades of Green

August 15, 2013 by Richard BangsLeave a Comment

Who would have guessed? But, as laid bare before me, Vermont is the sexiest state. Beyond its partially-trussed shoulders, and sensually curved back, beyond its juicy, succulent berries, Vermont is a place that emanates a pheromone that smells more pine than Axe. And yet it somehow manages to excite in ways unexpected. The favored car is not a Porsche, but rather a Subaru. The state color not hot pink, but forest green. It is more Von … [Read more...]

Erden Eruç: Global Circumnavigater and Adventurer

August 2, 2013 by Dave1 Comment

Recently we stumbled upon adventurer Erden Eruç through the great social connector, Twitter. His story appeals to all on a number of levels. He first came up with the idea to circumnavigate the globe under human power in 1997. It was an idea but he never pursued it at the time. Then in 2002, tragically he lost his friend and global adventurer Göran Kropp while rock climbing together and Erden was inspired to do something in his honor while … [Read more...]
