A man named Bottles and a dog named Egg, Jet Boating on the Zambezi

February 23, 2012 by DaveLeave a Comment

In the late 1990's a "kiwi" named Bottles was traveling overland through Africa and came across the Zambezi River. He never left. Today Bottles runs Jet Extreme, a totally self made business which caters to adventurers looking to experience the fast moving Zambezi River in an even faster way - on a jet boat. We rolled out in Bottles' canopy covered people mover - through the Mukuni Village where the well educated chief used to run marketing … [Read more...]

London by Fred Dust A travel book like no other! Physically its almost a 6"x6" square with pages bound with 6 metal rings with a flexible strap to hold the book together when finished reading. Each page is a "snapshot" within London containing a paragraph and several photos of a specific place, attraction, unique restaurant & more. All items are very experiential in nature and some are not the typical items you will find in a mainstream … [Read more...]

Spaniards in London

February 7, 2012 by Maria ClimentLeave a Comment

I've just come back from a short trip to London and I've been able to see the ravages of the crisis. And not precisely reflected in London city itself, but in the great amount of Spaniards that have left their apartments in Madrid, Barcelona or Cuenca and settled in the British capital, as in Spain the general outlook for youngsters is not very encouraging. Seriously, this made me reflect about whether one should leave their country to look … [Read more...]

Europe Trip Highlights

August 5, 2011 by Dave2 Comments

The following are some highlights from our latest trip to Europe: Partying late late in Belgrade Serbia - awesome party town, night clubs on old boats in the river. This was going to be museum-less trip, but we made exception for Nikola Tesla museum in Belgrade - we visited the museum and were duly impressed with the exhibits in action and hearing about his life on the guided tour Budapest - Buda Thai restaurant, one of best Thai … [Read more...]

Hanging out in London

July 31, 2011 by Dave13 Comments

We arrived in London after a 2.5 hour flight from Split Croatia. We love the budget airlines in Europe - last minute prices are the same as reserving your flights ahead of time for a number of the airlines. Wizz Air, Easy Jet, Ryan Air etc. London of course is one of the world's major cities - its easy to get lost in the city and its historical attractions. One is never bored for things to do here! There are world class museums - the Tate Modern … [Read more...]

Puffins in Pembrokeshire, West Wales

July 18, 2011 by Jess SpateLeave a Comment

As an international holiday destination, Wales is a little way off the beaten track. All the great cities of the UK- London, Manchester, Edinburgh, and Glasgow- are far away. While Wales has a rich culture and history of its own, they are much less well known than those of England or Scotland. Pembrokeshire lies in the extreme south-western corner of Wales- it's a quiet and sparsely populated even for a part of Wales, but those visitors who … [Read more...]

An Affair To Remember

July 1, 2011 by B. Lynch BlackLeave a Comment

In the summer of 1994, I fell in love at first sight. It was a true summer romance in all its glory, white hot in intensity, and I remember every moment. Passion completely consumed me from the first glance. I was hopelessly, irretrievably -- joyously -- lost. There was so much to know, and so little time. The depth of my love transformed my life forever. And then, all too soon, it was over. The parting broke my heart. I have never … [Read more...]

Squid on the Floor

July 1, 2011 by Greg BugyisLeave a Comment

At sunrise the buzz of motorbike traffic has not yet begun, and the street is oddly quiet. We come out of the alley and onto the sidewalk where shop owners are opening up and iced coffee vendors await their first customers. We're out here at this hour waiting for a van, which soon arrives. The four of us shove our bags in the back and groggily climb in. The previous afternoon we booked a Halong Bay tour from one of the hundreds of vendors in … [Read more...]
