One of the best recommendations I can give - before blindly trying to see Key West is pick up one of the numerous travel guides found on the island. In addition to helpful tips about traveling in the area, these often contain valuable coupons for lodging, restaurants, ferries, museums, and other attractions. One of the most informative travel guides to the Florida Keys is the official tourism guide. This is available on the web at … [Read more...]

by Dave · Leave a Comment

Mt. Shasta City is everything one looks for in a base-of-a-mountain town; it is small, charming and a meeting place for those attracted to this great mountain. It is a collection of those who come to the base of the mountain seeking spiritual guidance, those who come to marvel at its beauty, those who come to try to reach its lofty summit, those passing through on the 5, those who live and work here and those who just want to connect with nature. … [Read more...]

Gold Country, CA – Jamestown

by Dave · Leave a Comment

Jamestown is located about 3 miles south of Sonora on Highway 108. This mining town has had its share of history. It is named after a Colonel, George James. Nearby Wood's Creek was extremely rich and provided some sizable nuggets over the years. This creek is named after an Oregon miner Benjamin Wood who first discovered gold in the area in 1848 (one of the earliest gold mining related settlements in this part of California). The town has a … [Read more...]

Spokane, WA – Kalispell

by Dave · Leave a Comment

Kalispell is located in the Flathead Valley between the West Glacier entrance and Big Flathead Lake. The city has a population of 23,000 and is located on Montana's most dangerous road, the 93 Highway. In fact no sooner had I left Kalispell, I ran into slow traffic. I was caught in a traffic jam for only a minute or two before a firetruck came racing up from behind. After another 10 minutes, I passed the accident just as they were loading the … [Read more...]
