Exploring the Skies above Eastern Thailand

November 13, 2016 by Dave10 Comments

After connecting online with a fellow travel blogger - Thor Winther, of Winther Worldwide, some months ago, I was pleasantly surprised when he told me he had purchased a flight from Copenhagen to Bangkok and was interested in meeting up. Timing worked out so that he was able to visit our village several hours east of Bangkok. The last time I touched our drone was on Koh Tachai Island in Southern Thailand - after takeoff on the silky white … [Read more...]

Maho Beach, Sint Maarten – October 2016

October 1, 2016 by Dave2 Comments

This tiny sliver of sand is located at one end of the runways at Princess Juliana Airport. Considered on it's own it would be another fine example of Caribbean turquoise waters framed by smooth sand. But based on it's unique location to this airport, it has become somewhat legendary in the circles of plane spotters. And the reason for this is one can stand directly on the beach and look up in awe at jets passing extremely close overhead (often … [Read more...]

Sand Dunes and Sunset Kiteboarding in Jericoacoara

September 21, 2016 by Patricia PagenelLeave a Comment

Jericoacoara - Think sand dunes, warm water, strong winds, and epic kiteboarding sessions. Oh, and a cold Caipirinha while watching the sunset from the sand dunes after a hard day... What used to be a small fishing village has long become a mecca for wind water sports such as kiteboarding and windsurfing. Located 300 km west of Fortaleza, Jericoacoara, or Jeri as it is commonly known, is a great place to experience windy activities but also to … [Read more...]

Chasing Waterfalls in Samana

September 9, 2016 by Jacki Ueng3 Comments

There is a famous song in the 90's by TLC which advised not to chase waterfalls, but to stick with the rivers and lakes that you are used to. But what if you could have it all? I believe that we should chase waterfalls, metaphorically and physically. If we don't chase after waterfalls to places and dreams we aspire for, then how would we ever reach paradise? I set out on a journey to Dominican Republic in June for the first time to a … [Read more...]

Tori James, Adventurer and Speaker

August 6, 2016 by Dave1 Comment

I briefly met Tori earlier this year at a travel blogging conference (Traverse) 16 in Cardiff, Wales where she gave the opening welcome speech. Her adventures are nothing short of amazing, reaching the summit of Mt. Everest at age 25, participating in the first ever all-female team in a 360 mile race to the Magnetic North Pole (successfully reaching the pole), and significant cycling, kayaking and other outdoor adventure feats. She is an … [Read more...]

A Grand Venue for Country Tunes

July 30, 2016 by Paul KandarianLeave a Comment

Even if you’re not a fan of the style, there’s something about live country music in the actual country that makes it vastly entertaining. I’m not into country music, but last summer, atop a nearly 10,000-foot mountain under a Colorado sky bluer than any I’d ever seen before, with snow-dotted southern Rocky Mountains on the horizon and nothing but fresh air and great tunes all around, I converted in a hurry. At least for that day. The … [Read more...]

My Guide to the Algarve

July 27, 2016 by Becky YoungLeave a Comment

The Algarve seems to be getting a bad-rap lately.  People imagine hordes of European holidaymakers flocking there for their annual trip.  But that’s not the case, in my experience.  With its incredible red-cliffed coastline and beautiful, quaint little towns and villages, the Algarve has all the ingredients of the perfect relaxing holiday that you should be dying to go on. Where to stay Resorts are the accommodation of choice in the … [Read more...]

June 25, 2016 by Eric BiellerLeave a Comment

Have you ever been sledding in the middle of winter and thought, jeez, this sure is great but I wish it was about 60 degrees warmer out so I wasn’t freezing my butt off and on the verge of losing my extremities to frostbite!!? Well, the dunes at the White Sand National Monument outside of Las Cruces, NM, are your dream come true! It’s a national park with literally 275 sq miles of warm, milky-white sand dunes that you can, and are encouraged … [Read more...]

The American’s Guide to Martinique

June 2, 2016 by Chris Picardi6 Comments

We decided to go to Martinique purely because we found extremely affordable tickets nonstop from Boston. Norwegian Airlines (yes that is a real airline) now has a direct flight from Boston to Fort de France for $220 which almost sounds too good to be true. Prior to stumbling upon these flights, we knew absolutely nothing about the island, but after our week-long adventure we consider ourselves experts and wish to share our new-found knowledge … [Read more...]
