Ripley's Believe It or Not! Creates Custom Cartoons of
Willie Brown, Astronaut Buzz Aldrin and Olympic Skier Ani Serebrakian
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.- (July 26, 2010) - One walked on the moon. One was
the longest-running Speaker of the California State Assembly. One is a
college junior who competed in the 2010 Winter Olympics.
But none of the three - Aldrin, Brown or Serebrakian - has ever been
immortalized in such a manner by Ripley's Believe It or Not! - until
now.
After cutting the ribbon for the grand reopening of Ripley's San
Francisco Odditorium today, Brown and Serebrakian were presented with
specially-created custom cartoons highlighting their believe-it-or-not
achievements. (Aldrin was ill and unable to attend the event as
planned.) The cartoons were created by John Graziano, Ripley's official
illustrator.
Signed copies of the cartoons will go on permanent display in the
Ripley's San Francisco Odditorium.
Ripley's Believe It or Not! was first drawn in 1918 and is considered
the oldest continuously run cartoon in the world. The daily cartoon
panel still runs in nearly 200 newspapers in 42 different countries - in
17 languages!
