Driving through Tuscany & Antinori Winery Visit

May 24, 2013 by DaveLeave a Comment

It was hard to leave San Marino - it is such a unique and small country. Interesting museums, eclectic shopping, great views and good food! We opted for the slow drive through Tuscany - covering windy roads up and down the rolling hills, cresting passes and driving through several National Parks. The roads are narrow, steep at times but always through picturesque countryside. This time of year everything is green or in bloom. Spring has … [Read more...]

5 Tips for Reducing the Stress of Family Life

May 20, 2013 by Ragil PLeave a Comment

Thanks to our contributor Ragil for this piece - less stress on the home front hopefully equates to less stress on vacations! The stress of day to day family life is enough to get any of us wound up from time to time. Sticking to timetables, cleaning up the place and dealing with the inevitable family disputes can make even the most laid back of us feel a bit stressed out now and again. Sometimes all you need to do is something simple to … [Read more...]

Exploring Italy and San Marino

May 20, 2013 by Dave4 Comments

Today we spent the morning exploring old town Verona - coming across crowds for the first time since our stay here. The crowds were buzzing around Dante's statue (yes that Dante from Dante's Inferno - he spent some time in Verona) and supposedly the balcony and house of Juliet in Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet". There has been a lot of rain here, coupled with the slightly warmer temperatures and the snow melt, the rivers are swollen. Verona … [Read more...]

Enjoying Lake Garda

May 16, 2013 by DaveLeave a Comment

One of the advantages of living in Verona (besides the obvious history and being a picturesque town) is the fact that it is located fairly close to the mountains. We headed out this morning (I would say early but after a late night of walking the streets of Verona we didn't rise until many hours after sunrise)! I had heard about the charms of Lake Garda for a number of years (more frequently now that my brother is living in the area). Lake … [Read more...]

Budget-Friendly Excursions in Florida

May 16, 2013 by Alejandro A.1 Comment

Florida is an iconic state. When someone says Florida, they imagine sprawling Disney theme parks, bright sun and beaches that attract beautiful, chiseled people. One might also imagine a Florida holiday costing a fortune, but if you plan ahead you can have the trip of your dreams without emptying your bank account, from cheap Florida flights to lazy days on the beach. Try to avoid planning your trip at a time that will coincide with … [Read more...]

Defining the Perfect Holiday

May 15, 2013 by Dave3 Comments

I was recently asked to write about my perfect holiday by the folks at Happiness Included. Their parent company focuses on a variety of International trips but Happiness Included is focusing on trips to Spain and Thailand. They are currently giving away a tree trip to Thailand - you can enter via their website; also check out some of their screen shots below. I have taken many trips over the years - some almost perfect, many not - but nearly … [Read more...]

A Capital of Diversity

May 13, 2013 by DaveLeave a Comment

Berlin is a city with an interesting history and certainly one with a lot of stories to tell. After the erection of the Iron Curtain, and during of the Cold War, Berlin was the center of attention during and after the World Wars, (obviously it wasn’t a great tourist destination then with an attractive selling point at the time). However before the conundrum of world politics and crazy dictators, Germany’s capital offered a much vibrant bohemian … [Read more...]

Tedeschi Winery, Verona Italy

May 13, 2013 by Dave4 Comments

I've known Emil Tedeschi for a number of years, owner of Napa Valley's tiny Tedeschi Family Winery, not to be confused with the Tedeschi Winery, Maui - which Emil also co-founded. He has mentioned the Tedeschi Winery in Verona Italy more than a few times. So with my brother living in Verona and describing my upcoming trip to visit him, Emil jumped at the opportunity to come along. Emil has co-piloted a single engine plane - 16 hours from San … [Read more...]

Visiting Frankfurt

May 9, 2013 by DaveLeave a Comment

I'm not sure how it is that on recent flights every time I have been parked right next to a screaming baby. This latest one did not actually cry, but rather screamed a good portion of the 11 hour flight. No matter how hard the parents tried, this little fellow would not let up. Upon reaching Frankfurt - I had 8 hours to kill before heading on to Verona Italy. I took full advantage of this window of opportunity by jumping on the S8 train to … [Read more...]
