St. Lucia, West Indies — For music lovers, there’s no better time to visit St. Lucia than during the island’s world-renowned Jazz Festival, which this spring celebrates two decades of fusing the sensual sounds of live jazz, soul, calypso and other international music with sultry ocean breezes and stunning vistas to create a tropical, musical utopia. And there’s no better place to stay than Calabash Cove Resort & Spa, a luxurious, beachfront boutique resort ideally located near the festival’s main venues yet secluded enough for some serious R&R to accompany the R&B.

The 20th Annual St. Lucia Jazz Festival will take place April 30-May 8, 2011, and feature a stellar lineup of Saint Lucian entertainers alongside regional and international artists, including headliner John Legend, multi-platinum singer, songwriter and pianist who took home three Grammy Awards this month (best R&B album, song and performance) for his collaborative work with the band Roots for the album ‘Wake Up!’ Other performers in this year’s lineup include Trey Songz, 4th World, Allison Marquis and Eclectic Pan, Anacaona, Angelique Kidjo, Bad Ass Brass, Carimi, Chuck Brown, The Derek Yarde Project, Jab Duplessis, Ledisi, Maceo Parker, Mervyn Wilkinson, Mike Stern, Morgan Heritage, Regina Carter, Richard Bona, Sixun, Taj Weeks and Yellowjackets.

The festival’s main stage performances will be held at St. Lucia’s Pigeon Island National Landmark and Rodney Bay, both just a short ride from Calabash Cove, which is situated on a lush, tropical hillside on the island’s northwest coast that slopes gently toward a the resort’s secluded, pristine beach and custom-designed boardwalk. Luxurious accommodations include the 1,000-square-foot Water’s Edge Cottages with secluded plunge pools, outdoor rain showers and private hammocks, as well as unique Swim-Up, and Sunset Ocean View Jr. Suites. All of the resort’s accommodations offer unparalleled views from the luxury of your balcony and are beautifully appointed, making use of natural materials such as Balinese mahogany wherever possible. Windsong restaurant and C-bar overlook Sweetwaters, the resort’s oversized pool with 40′ infinity edge. Adjacent to Sweetwaters is the resort’s full-service T-Spa and Fitness Centre, offering a wide range of treatments designed to rejuvenate and cleanse the body of stress.

In addition to the outstanding musical entertainment of the jazz festival, St. Lucia offers some of the best recreational options in the Caribbean. Snorkel or sail the Caribbean’s translucent blue waters, hike to the summit of a breathtaking Piton, soak in natural hot springs, ride a zip-line through a rainforest canopy, stroll through a quaint fishing village, view exotic wildlife like giant turtles, search for ancient petroglyphs, cool off under a waterfall, visit the world’s only drive-in volcano or enjoy world-class rock climbing and golf.
