Vero Beach, FL —The Vero Beach Wine + Film Festival, the new ‘’Summer Sundance,” today announced the second annual cinematic celebration is scheduled for June 8-11, 2017. The Vero Beach Wine + Film Festival is the only U.S. wine and film festival of its kind outside of California’s wine country.
The announcement was met with a standing ovation at the recent Indian River County Chamber Breakfast. Last year’s inaugural VBWFF received the support of over 50 local businesses who are thrilled by its success. As many return to offer their financial support to this year’s Festival, they are being joined by new enthusiastic VBWFF partners.
The Vero Beach Wine + Film Festival showcases the fabulous lifestyle that Vero Beach has to offer, all the while celebrating fine wines and remarkable films. VBWFF crowns the best in independent film and honors winemakers with both an expert and celebrity judging panel and crowd-curated Audience Choice Awards.
In addition to the wine and film awards, each year the Vero Beach Wine + Film Festival credits a recipient with their highest honor, the “Life Worth Living Legend Award” inspired by the event beneficiary, Suncoast Mental Health Center. The center offers supportive services to children and families along the Treasure Coast, including St. Lucie, Indian River, Martin and Okeechobee counties.
The 2016 honoree, Gloria Estefan, commented, “It seems particularly fitting to be accepting this ‘Life Worth Living Award’ at this moment in our lives and in a place that I call my favorite place on earth, Vero Beach. I am very happy to be honored at this very first annual event, and I hope that the Vero Beach Wine + Film Festival continues to flourish and bring enjoyment to this wonderful community that I also call home.”
Jerusha Stewart, festival Founder and Executive Director, elaborates, “The first year was an overwhelming success for the festival and its beneficiary Suncoast Mental Health Center. We are thrilled to be contributing to the cultural landscape and legacy of our generous community. Now that we’ve uncorked the community’s love of cinema, we look forward to growing the Vero Beach Wine + Film Festival into a premiere arts destination experience in the years to come.”
City of Vero Beach Vice Mayor Harry Howle III said, “This premier fundraiser, here in Vero Beach, donates 100% of the net proceeds to the Suncoast Mental Health Center; a local organization which offers support and services for local children in need of assistance. This special event is one which we can all be very proud of and I encourage everyone to attend.”
Passes to the Vero Beach Wine and Film Fest will be available for purchase on December 1, 2016 at VBWFF.com.
