July 13, 2019 by Philipp Meier3 Comments

Not sure what to think of Thai culture? I tell you what: once you immerse yourself in it, you’ll come to love it. For Buddha’s sake! Wait! This isn’t a platitude. Thai culture has a squillion of aspects that make living so much easier and less complicated than westerners’ way of life. Like what? Well, here’s what will make you grow fond of Thais’ traditions sooner or later. Eating on the floor, the table, or whatever is flat … [Read more...]

10 Inspirational Travel Instagram Accounts Worth Following

March 15, 2019 by Dave19 Comments

This wonderful planet features a diversity of inspirational and beautiful places. Some travelers have been able to create careers out of exploring a range of often niche experiences or locations. For them, travel is a passion and certainly a huge part of their lifestyles. And in deciding which accounts to feature here, I started pondering - what would Ansel Adams or more recently, Galen Rowell think about the incredible amount of digital … [Read more...]

💩 Happens When You Travel

February 10, 2018 by Abdul Rastagar6 Comments

I didn’t think much of it at first. His face was somewhat pale and the ever-present smile had been replaced by a slightly anguished expression. He mentioned he was cold but how could this be? We were in the middle of the hot and humid Cambodian jungle. Maybe it was just exhaustion from a long day of exploring Angkor Wat? I figured if we just rested a while, we’d be OK. Then 💩 happened. Literally. The next few hours were spent assisting him back … [Read more...]

Exploring Thailand, Using Bangkok as my Hub City

September 3, 2017 by DaveLeave a Comment

I have been visiting Southeast Asia for years using Bangkok as my 'home base'. This prominent city in the region offers two airports, one of which is a major hub for International flights especially from Europe and the USA. The second older airport is home to a number of budget airlines that can be used to easily and quickly reach a number of destinations within the country. Bangkok is best explored in small doses - over a few days at a … [Read more...]

The Phenomenal Fortitude of Cambodia’s Emerging Capital

June 14, 2017 by Jarard Paige2 Comments

Phnom Penh, Cambodia Gray and gritty...these are the two words that rise to the surface when I reflect on our brief 4 days in the Cambodian capital of Phnom Pen. Gray in the truest sense of the word and color, in that it’s place that is in transition – moving from a dark and clouded past to perhaps a bright and emerging future. However, where the city lies on the gray scale spectrum is open to one’s perception. Some may see it as a place that is … [Read more...]

Penang – An Embodiment of Creative Disruption

May 19, 2017 by Jarard Paige1 Comment

George Town, Penang Much like the street art and street (“hawker”) food that seem to serve as the first definition of modern day Penang, the city is one that is best experienced through the senses. Though the city is still trying to create an identity for itself after it was stripped of such comfort during WWII, it is using vibrant, creative solutions to tell its history, share its beauty and humor, and redevelop itself as Malaysia’s thriving … [Read more...]

Jet Skiing the Chao Praya River, Bangkok

April 10, 2017 by Dave12 Comments

While on a boat cruise on the Chao Praya River recently I thought to myself "wouldn't it be cool to jump on a jet ski and zip past all these temples, river boat barges, long tail boats, ferry boats, river cruise boats and anything else that commonly floats past the banks of Bankok". A search yielded no results other then one - a tour offered by a local named Many who mentioned a stop at a jet ski center, marina and restaurant. She offered a … [Read more...]
