Paradise in Palau – Kayangel

April 16, 2012 by Dave7 Comments

The word "paradise" is truly defined by Palau's northern most state of Kayangel, which is composed of merely four small atoll islands. Total population: under 100. Total "wow" factor: 100+ percent. It is places like this that you only read about in travel magazines or see on TV - and when you find yourself in one of these places (such as Kayangel), you have to pinch yourself to make sure its not a dream. It's easy to get 'high' here - perhaps … [Read more...]

No Journey, No Perspective

April 7, 2012 by DaveLeave a Comment

We touched down in Koror Palau on a cloudless evening - with a full moon blazing and reflecting off of the wings of the plane the entire flight over from Guam. We had arranged a homestay ahead of time and the owner was going to pick us up. We arrived at 130am, waited until 2am then called our homestay. The father of the owner spoke no English. We called back with someone from the Visit Palau doing the talking. He told us, "oh she's not here - she … [Read more...]

New York, New York!

March 27, 2012 by Hans BeltranLeave a Comment

New York, New York! One of the most important cities in the World, a finance capital loved by millions and hated by other thousands, a city of contrasts where beauty and wildness are combined in perfect harmony, stinking the oxygen of its inhabitants with a magnificent and intoxicating lifestyle that once you experience it, change your very core forever. With a unique character, given by the fact that there is a citizen from every single part … [Read more...]

Revisiting Dapitan: A Hero’s Retreat

March 17, 2012 by Junfil OlarteLeave a Comment

Dapitan became famous after the Filipino hero Jose Rizal arrived on its shores more than one hundred years ago. Jose Rizal's colorful exile in this place from 1892 to 1896 has had a very significant role in Dapitan's history making it the ultimate "Shrine City of the Philippines". Perhaps, Rizal is Dapitan and Dapitan itself is eternally tied to Rizal. Without him, this place would never be known the world over and never become one of the most … [Read more...]

German food in Berlin

February 29, 2012 by Hans BeltranLeave a Comment

As Berlin is a multicultural capital, its food has many foreign influences; flavors from Turkey, India, Russia, Czech Republic and Poland are combined with the traditional German essence to make a delicious melting pot of flavors. However, despite the international influences, it is still possible to differentiate the most authentic flavors of the German cuisine. You have been roaming around the city for couple of hours and wonder, why do … [Read more...]

Escaping the Monotony! Solo traveling in Vietnam

February 24, 2012 by Mithila Jariwala1 Comment

Being an aggressively passionate traveler, I have a very low tolerance for mechanical life that comes along with the working environment. This leads to frustration with a need to elope, to explore a new destination. I decided to take a few days off and chose to fly to Hanoi. I was both, backpacking solo and traveling to Vietnam for the first time. With great excitement I landed in Hanoi. Hanoi is full of life and to me it came across … [Read more...]

A man named Bottles and a dog named Egg, Jet Boating on the Zambezi

February 23, 2012 by DaveLeave a Comment

In the late 1990's a "kiwi" named Bottles was traveling overland through Africa and came across the Zambezi River. He never left. Today Bottles runs Jet Extreme, a totally self made business which caters to adventurers looking to experience the fast moving Zambezi River in an even faster way - on a jet boat. We rolled out in Bottles' canopy covered people mover - through the Mukuni Village where the well educated chief used to run marketing … [Read more...]
