February 13, 2018 by Allison TibaldiLeave a Comment

If a trip Down Under is on your bucket list, take note that United Airlines launched a new Houston to Sydney daily nonstop service on January 18th. United is the only airline offering nonstop service from Houston to any Australian destination. I was lucky enough to be on board for the festive inaugural flight. Here’s the scoop on the 8,596-mile journey. Aussie Treats To Tempt The Taste Buds The party started at Houston’s George Bush … [Read more...]

Colonial Melaka

January 28, 2018 by Abdul Rastagar2 Comments

What do you get when you mix Malay, Portuguese, Dutch, English, Indian, Japanese and Chinese? You get Melaka – a particularly diverse Malaysian town of about 500,000 inhabitants. And though the population is mostly Malay now, you’ll quickly notice the diversity in architecture, languages, people and foods. No wonder the city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. For anyone with an interest in history or culture, the city center of Melaka offers a … [Read more...]

The Hottest Spots In Amsterdam You Simply Have To Visit

January 19, 2018 by Alexandra ALeave a Comment

Amsterdam might be one of the hottest tourist destinations in the world, but if you only have a few days to spend in this amazing city, you can’t waste a moment on popcorn fares. You want the good stuff, the spots that will stick with you long after you’ve left. That’s what we’ll be looking at today. Now, it’s important to note that the places you’ll be visiting today won’t necessarily paint Amsterdam in terms of how the locals see it. … [Read more...]

Escaping to La Brenne National Parc, France

January 16, 2018 by Steph CookeLeave a Comment

Sipping my coffee by the lake, I could just make out a tiny dark speck in the water. Eagerly grabbing my friend’s binoculars I trained them onto the black dot, and as it slowly came into focus, resembling a small beaver with a rat like tail, I realised that I was looking at a coypu… We were in La Brenne National Parc, in the Indres Department of Central France, named after the river Indre that flows through the region. Seeking a taste of rural … [Read more...]

Je Me Souviens Quebec / I Remember Quebec

January 6, 2018 by Abdul Rastagar3 Comments

“Quebec is the most beautiful city in North America I’ve seen.” – Sebastian Bach Leaving aside that Sebastian has quite clearly never been to Puebla, Mexico, I am inclined to agree with him. Quebec, indeed, is a most fanciful city, romantically trapped in an era long gone and full of Old World charm. I first visited it on a day trip from Montreal with my dad fifteen years ago. Dare I steal Quebec’s honored motto of “Je me souviens” (I … [Read more...]

Budget Things To Do In Sydney, Australia

January 2, 2018 by A Couple for the Road3 Comments

Sydney is a city people save up to see, and spend years waiting for the opportunity. With great culture and beautiful scenery, it's no wonder why Sydney is so popular. However, it's also a large city that can be daunting to visit if you haven't planned on how to save for the trip or how to budget for the expense that Sydney can bring. No matter how long you're staying, however, you can enjoy a wonderful time in Sydney on a budget by enjoying … [Read more...]

Enjoying an Elvis Extravaganza at Graceland in Memphis

December 29, 2017 by Marina BLeave a Comment

No trip to Memphis, Tennessee, is complete without a visit to the Graceland home of Elvis Presley, and with over 650,000 visitors each year, this National Historic Landmark is the second most visited house in America, only surpassed by the White House residence of the US President in Washington. Of course, for many fans of Elvis and his remarkable musical career, a visit to the Graceland mansion is almost like a pilgrimage, or even a once in a … [Read more...]

Curacao, One of my Favorite Islands in the Caribbean

December 25, 2017 by Dave26 Comments

Our introduction to Curaçao wasn't an awe inspiring inspirational place of stunning natural beauty (for instance a secluded white sand beach framed by a crescent shoreline and aquamarine waters). Rather it was in a rough part of Willemstad, the capital city. A friend and I found ourselves wandering around the dark streets late at night in search of food in a neighborhood near our hostel. We passed walls topped with razor sharp barbed wire - … [Read more...]

All-in Tickets from KLM Airlines

December 9, 2017 by Dave10 Comments

I have flown my share of budget airlines (mostly in Europe as they are often reasonably priced and quick way around the continent) but you always get what you pay for: a basic seat, very limited carry-on luggage allowances and generally no food or drink. Often the flights are to secondary airports that aren't always central to your final destination. While these in continent flights are typically only a few hours at most, there are certainly also … [Read more...]
