Ngoma Safari Lodge Botswana

March 1, 2012 by DaveLeave a Comment

Ngoma Safari Lodge is located on the edges of Chobe National Park in Botswana. This fairly new property opened in May 2011 and was officially dedicated in July 2011 with his Excellency, Botswana's President Seretse Khama Ian Khama attending the opening ceremonies. This is isolated luxury at its finest and rawest; the lodge is accessible by any of 3 dirt roads - which are more like 4wd tracks among the bush - there are no signs and you must … [Read more...]

Chobe National Park

February 19, 2012 by DaveLeave a Comment

Today we visited the interior of Chobe National Park with our intrepid guide Shime - a Botswanan who hails from a small village 7 hours away near the city of Maun. We are staying at the luxurious isolated Ngoma Safari Lodge located on the edge of Chobe on the Namibian border. The Chobe game drives are the main activity offered by Ngoma - and along with their lodge, these drives are first class. Their guides are super knowledgeable, have eyes … [Read more...]

London

February 14, 2012 by DaveLeave a Comment

London by Fred Dust A travel book like no other! Physically its almost a 6"x6" square with pages bound with 6 metal rings with a flexible strap to hold the book together when finished reading. Each page is a "snapshot" within London containing a paragraph and several photos of a specific place, attraction, unique restaurant & more. All items are very experiential in nature and some are not the typical items you will find in a mainstream … [Read more...]

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

February 9, 2012 by DaveLeave a Comment

We are loving the little town of Victoria Falls - US currency is the name of the game here - even the ATM's spit out US dollars. However, unlike the currency in the USA most of the bills here are blackened beyond believe - some bills are just tattered smears of smudge - even though they are only a few years old! One lady in a wheelchair told us to be very careful at night in regards to mosquitoes - she said she's had malaria so many times … [Read more...]

Kruger National Park

February 5, 2012 by DaveLeave a Comment

If your looking for a Big Game Drive, look no further than the huge Kruger National Park in South Africa. Day visits are the cheapest way to see the park but there are a number of lodges within the park boundaries (more expensive then some of the nearby outside of the park accommodations). We took advantage of our early morning arrival time and drove on dirt roads all day on our own "big game drive". We came across three of the "Big Five" - Cape … [Read more...]

Palau Features Natures Most Unique, One-of-a-Kind Attractions…Swimming with Jellyfish

February 3, 2012 by Molly BLeave a Comment

"Swimming in warm, golden Jellyfish Lake, I'm surrounded by friendly intelligent jellyfish," writes travel journalist and photographer Sharon Spence Lieb. "At first I'm afraid I'll be stung. But these creatures are different: They caress my body and embrace my face. These gelatinous orbs seem downright curious. If I could laugh underwater I would. Who would ever think jellyfish could be so harmless? I'll remember this sensational wildlife … [Read more...]

The Rose House Inn is a wonderfully restored luxury Bed & Breakfast located about 8 km from the small town of Fouriesburg in eastern part of the Free State in South Africa. The properties' old stone farmhouse was meticulously restored by innkeepers John and Trish Critchley in 2005/2006. Changes in the Village

December 30, 2011 by DaveLeave a Comment

I've been coming to our village in Eastern Thailand every at least once a year for the past 10 years (we own property next to the village). Things change so fast here. In the last 4 years we now have land line service and a 10mb Internet connection (that's 4x as fast as we have at our place in California). Oh and we have 24/7 running water. Prior to this we had to walk 5 minutes to the local pond, turn on the pump for water and then walk back … [Read more...]

Exploring the United Kingdom

December 23, 2011 by ChadLeave a Comment

"Exploring the United Kingdom is more affordable you think, with discount voucher sites giving you more for your money." The lure of overseas travel can provide a wonderfully satisfying way to dream away the colds winter months but sometime it's worth considering the options closer to home. In these harsh economic times were all watching our budgets so it's a great time to explore the depths the our country has to offer... In the UK we're … [Read more...]
