ANCHORAGE, Alaska— – May 1 2013— As vacationers begin to make summer plans, Doyon/ARAMARK Joint Ventures introduces its new Windows Into Wilderness Tour. Beginning June 1 through Aug. 31, the Windows Into Wilderness Tour allows adventurers to travel deeper into Denali National Park in less time. The six-hour tour has been crafted as a suitable alternative for those visitors who want to see as much of this expansive park as possible in a short period of time.

“Denali National Park is vast, comprising over six million acres of preserved wilderness, and can be overwhelming to visitors with limited time to explore. Our guided tours are an excellent option for guests that want to experience many facets of the Park and can be tailored to any itinerary with lengths that run from four to 12 hours,” said Tony Scoringe, director of sales and marketing for ARAMARK Alaska. “The Windows Into Wilderness tour is the perfect blend of park history, ecology and Native American culture at a convenient length for many visitors.”

The Windows Into Wilderness Tour takes travelers 30 miles into the Park along the Denali Park Road. 12 miles into the tour at the Mountain Vista Trailhead, visitors are taken on a guided 90-minute walk. Led by a science educator from the Murie Science and Learning Center, visitors will learn about Denali’s subarctic ecosystem.

Tour participants will meet with an interpreter of the Athabascan (Atha-Bas-can) culture, the indigenous people whose ancestors utilized the Denali ecosystem for several thousand years. During time with this local interpreter, there will be a demonstration of the craftsmanship long identified with the culture.

The last stop in the tour is the Teklanika (Tek-Lan-ika) Overlook where attendees stand above the Teklanika River on the open-air deck and enjoy breathtaking views of Cathedral and Igloo Mountains, as well as have the opportunity to peer for wildlife below, before returning to the visitor center.

The Windows Into Wilderness Tour departs at 8:00 a.m. daily from McKinley Village Lodge, McKinley Chalet Resort, Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge and the Wilderness Access Center. For more information or to book your tour, visit http://www.denaliparkresorts.com/.
