SCOTTEVEST NO BAGGAGE CHALLENGE FOR CHARITY TO BENEFIT THE HAITI PLUNGE

Travel Clothing Company Teams up with Tech Blog Gear Diary for a Clothes-on-their-Back Journey to CES to Help a Good Cause

LAS VEGAS, NV – January 5, 2011 – Most attendees at trade shows wind up carrying pamphlets, samples and bags of swag as sponsors vie for their attention; visitors to this week’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) are no exception.  This “hands full” situation is met with an intriguing counterpoint as challengers in a SCOTTEVEST No Baggage Challenge for Charity attend CES carrying no bags for their entire door-to-door trip, only what they can carry in the purpose-built pockets of their SCOTTEVEST/SeV Travel Clothing.  This is the fifth No Baggage Challenge for Charity sponsored by SeV, and the first of many planned for 2011.

When Dan Cohen and Larry Greenberg of GearDiary.com approached SeV’s CEO/Founder Scott Jordan with the idea of going bag-free and documenting it during CES, there was no hesitation.  Jordan explains, “We’ve had a good relationship with GearDiary for many years, so being able to work with them on a No Baggage Challenge at CES to benefit a charity like the Haiti Plunge was a winning situation all around.”

The Haiti Plunge will be the beneficiary of $1500 from SCOTTEVEST upon completion of the challenge, plus 10% of all SeV sales before January 15th, 2011 referencing the checkout code NBCHAITI.  Readers who use that code also save 10% on their purchase as an added incentive

The Haiti Plunge seeks to, “develop a permanent clinic that provides ongoing preventive care, curative care, and health promotional services for the underserved people of 9 mountain villages and the Caberet region of Haiti….”  Readers can personally donate here.  SCOTTEVEST, GearDiary and No Baggage Challenge followers are asked to indicate that they are donating as part of the “Scottevest No Baggage Challenge for Charity, CES/Gear Diary Edition.”

SCOTTEVEST Travel Clothing is known around the world for the integration of dozens of unique, hidden pockets into their designs, and wearing SeV is what makes it possible to travel without baggage for these challenges.  The concept was first proven in 2010 with a six-week, around the world journey with no luggage: the first SCOTTEVEST No Baggage Challenge.  While Dan and Larry’s own trip is several days in length, they’re expecting it to be pretty intense and live up to the challenge aspect of the N.B.C.

You can watch the challenge unfold at www.NoBaggageChallenge.com and check out some other recent N.B.C. adventures on their Facebook page as well.  Dan and Larry will also be posting their progress to www.GearDiary.com while reporting on CES.  To donate to the Haiti Plunge, visit their website here.
