hollywood-blvdHollywood, California – The Renaissance Hollywood Hotel & Spa helps The Greater West Hollywood Food Coalition in its mission to feed the homeless and hungry of our community a hot, fresh, and nutritious meal every day throughout the year. The Hotel does this by packing up the gourmet dishes from their Sunday Jazz Brunch series in Twist Restaurant as well as banquet events. Donated items range from Pan Seared Salmon with Garlic Bechamel to Roasted Pork Loin with Sundried Cherry Demiglace and delivering the bounty to the Coalition while everything is still fresh.

“This program enables us to give back to the community and provide people a delicious and nutritious meal to those that might otherwise go hungry,” explains Dan Shaughnessy, Director of Sales & Marketing for the Renaissance. “Every Sunday following our popular Jazz Brunch, we donate a variety of items. It’s a good feeling to know that we are helping serve what the Coalition says is a sense of dignity by treating the homeless and hungry like individual human beings in temporary distress, instead of untouchables.”

“We recycle food from all available sources in Los Angeles, including hotels, restaurants, bakeries, grocery stores, produce markets, caterers, film studios, and airlines,” explains Greater West Hollywood Food Coalition Volunteer Penny Landreth. “Hotels like the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel & Spa provide us with a continuing supply of the highest quality fresh food AT NO COST, while at the same time involving the community at large in what we do.”

Besides offering meals for the homeless, The Greater West Hollywood Food Coalition also offers medical assistance, free of charge, and has a clothing program.

The Renaissance Hollywood Hotel & Spa, located at Hollywood & Highland Center, a shopping and entertainment mecca and home to the Academy Awards ceremonies, offers 632 distinctive guest rooms, 33 suites, and the unforgettable 3,500 square foot Panorama Suite. The property is well known as being a favorite of major production companies and business travelers alike, the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel & Spa embodies modern luxury accented by classic Hollywood charm, featuring the distinctive restaurant Twist, an outdoor pool overlooking the Hollywood Sign, world-class fitness center, catering by Wolfgang Puck, the new Spa Luce, and outstanding service savvy travelers have come to expect from the Renaissance brand name.
