Flower shop The “Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular”, Our Nation’s Premier 4th of July Celebration to be Presented in Front of 500,000 People on the Charles River Esplanade in Boston

Millions More will View the Broadcast live Sunday, July 4th (10 to 11pm EDT) on the CBS Television Network

(June 2, 2010)The BOSTON POPS FIREWORKS SPECTACULAR, in its 37th year, is the orchestra’s annual free outdoor Fourth of July concert and is sponsored by Liberty Mutual Group, one of America’s leading insurance companies. The final 21 minutes of the broadcast, featuring the spectacular fireworks display, will be presented commercial free by Liberty Mutual Group.

Each year the biggest musical acts take the stage alongside the Boston Pops with charismatic conductor Keith Lockhart leading the festivities. Past performers have included superstars Neil Diamond and Rascal Flatts.

Those in attendance will not only be treated to a spectacular fireworks display that rivals any show in the country, but to a fan favorite patriotic sing-along, led by conductor Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops rousing rendition of Tchaikovsky’s ‘1812 Overture’ complete with church bells and howitzer cannons.

The Boston Pops, “America’s Orchestra,” performs in front of nearly 900,000 people annually in Boston, across the country and around the world, and reaches millions more through its recordings and television broadcasts. Keith Lockhart became the 20th conductor of the Boston Pops in February 1995 and marks his 16th season this year. He has conducted more than 1200 Boston Pops concerts, made 67 television shows, and led the Boston Pops on 33 national tours, as well as performances at Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall. His favorite event is the annual Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular.

Though the Pops have performed free concerts on Boston’s Charles River Esplanade since 1929, the July 4th concert took on a new dimension in 1974, when then conductor Arthur Fiedler introduced the concert’s now-famous grand spectacular fireworks finale.
