A “Royal Holiday” in the Heart of Caribbean at Park Royal Cozumel

June 17, 2015 by Ashley Morton1 Comment

I first became enamored with all-inclusive resorts two years ago. There is something incredibly liberating about knowing everything is all taken care of in advance. No need to budget your dollars over the course of a vacation. No need to even carry around a wallet. It takes an element of stress away allowing your vacation to feel like a royal experience. My most recent all inclusive experience took place at the Park Royal Cozumel. Arriving … [Read more...]

Winding our Way to Andorra La Vella

June 13, 2015 by Dave5 Comments

We arrived at the summit pass between France and Andorra and were greeted by thick fog. Opting to pay the €6 tunnel fee (rather than driving up over the ridge on the old very windy road) we were very surprised when we burst through the tunnel into brilliant blue skies and sunshine radiating all around us. A long valley lay below us with jagged still snow covered peaks surrounding. It was like going from a June Gloom Malibu California day where … [Read more...]

Life in Bogotá: 12 things you’ll soon discover

June 10, 2015 by Naomi DaltonLeave a Comment

1. Queuing for a bus is rare On the TransMilenio bus system in Bogota, it’s every man for himself; unlike London buses, on most TransMilenio buses there aren’t specific doors for people getting on or getting off (although these are being introduced on certain routes, thank God!), so as the doors open at the station it’s like two opposing armies clashing as each side struggles to board or disembark. If you wait for people to get off before you … [Read more...]

The Three Places You Should Visit in Uruguay – as Soon as Possible and Slightly Off Season

May 7, 2015 by Claudia Tavani3 Comments

Uruguay attractions

I arrived in Uruguay at the very end of a four months backpacking trip. I was exhausted, and all I wanted to do was rest, lay in the sun, enjoy the sea breeze, eat nice food and write. My expectations were met and exceeded, and by the time I boarded the first of a number of flights that would take me back to Sardinia, I knew I was in love with the country and would have to go back in the future.   Locked between Argentina and … [Read more...]

Living in Bogota: My 5 Colombian Identities

February 26, 2015 by Naomi Dalton1 Comment

I’ve been living in Bogota, Colombia for over a year now, having moved here from London for my Colombian partner, and something I’ve noticed is the way in which identity is defined; since moving here I have taken on a number of identities which just didn’t matter or exist when I was in London. Not that we don’t categorise people there too – for example, a person’s age, ethnicity and the part of London they’re from can tell you a lot about them: … [Read more...]

Riviera Cancun: Secrets Silversands Resort

Secrets Silversands Resort

Looking at numerous websites, Trip Advisor reviews, and tips from friends, we’re spoiled for choice when it comes to picking a travel destination and resort. My husband and I wanted to visit the Riviera Maya this month, in a location away from the thumping of Cancun or Playa del Carmen. What we found was Puerto Morelos, a smaller town smack in between the two, yet close enough to get to the Mayan ruins while enjoying the warm, tropical breezes of … [Read more...]

How to spend 48 hours in Bogota

February 17, 2015 by Naomi Dalton2 Comments

Many travellers will arrive in Bogota with the intention of  staying for a couple of days before moving onto somewhere else... Cartagena, Santa Marta, the Coffee Region. So in case you happen to be spending just 48 hours in Bogota (let's say a weekend) here’s a suggested itinerary (with alternatives suggested in the event of rain!): Saturday 8.00am: It’s Saturday morning and chances are you’re staying near the historical part of Bogota (the … [Read more...]

El Salvador Wedding and Lago De Coatepeque

January 10, 2015 by Dave2 Comments

I am sitting on the edge of Lago De Coatepeque in El Salvador on an early morning - wakened early by the suns first rays hitting my face from my cozy spot on the floor, wedged between two sofas. Last night I vaguely remembered stumbling in around 2am. Lacking in the sleep department and heavy in the alcohol recovery, I feel surprisingly well for just a few hours of sleep. Last night was a blur, it was my cousin's wedding and it was epic. The … [Read more...]

Eating My Way Through San Juan

December 16, 2014 by Allison Tibaldi3 Comments

When I first started exploring Puerto Rico, I found what I was seeking: Caribbean beaches, stylish hotel rooms by the sea, a capital city with a pulsating beat and genuinely warm locals. What I never expected to find was a mouth-watering culinary scene. Contemporary Cocina Criolla is a fusion that mirrors Puerto Rico’s diversity and is a powerful lens into its history. Its predominate influences are indigenous Taíno blended with an ample measure … [Read more...]
