Dining at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame
The Georgia Racing Hall of Fame Museum (415 Highway 53 East, Dawsonville, Georgia 30534; 706-216-7223) offers an overview of the town’s unique racing history, but located within is The Station House (415 Highway 53 East, Dawsonville, Georgia 30534; 706-525-5145), a restaurant serving up Southern family recipes inside a replica of the old Hemphill Service Station. Try their famous pancakes and biscuits for breakfast or fried chicken made from scratch.
Country artist and owner Tommy Townsend, along with his daughter Megan Kimsey, serve a variety of old family “shine” at Grandaddy Mimm’s Distilling Co. (415 Highway 53 East, Suite 130, Dawsonville, Georgia, 30534; 706-781-1829). Choose from barrel-aged whiskey and flavored moonshine, among other spirits, to a popular collection of Border Hop Beer Co. brews. Come for the innovative spirits but stay for live music and trivia nights.
The Blue Bicycle
The Blue Bicycle (30 Industrial Park Road, Suite 116, Dawsonville, GA 30534) is a small but exquisite fine-dining bistro with delicious French-inspired dishes.
