Leading Private Sales Site Emerges From Beta with Site Redesign, New Features and New Consumer Spokesperson Jetset Farryn
NEW YORK, NY (April 8, 2010) Jetsetter ( www.jetsetter.com ), the private sales site that helps leisure travelers discover and purchase the world’s best vacations and most memorable experiences, launches after six months in Beta. Jetsetter has emerged as the leading private sales site thanks to its eclectic inventory, which includes more than 200 properties in over 20 countries. Offerings are constantly rotating in the flash sale model which provides tremendous value on properties rarely discounted. Exclusive offers are 30-65 percent better than rates found elsewhere.
“Jetsetter members visit to learn about new destinations and resorts, much in the same way that people ask their friends or read a travel magazine for vacation ideas,” said Drew Patterson, Jetsetter CEO and founder. “Members are opening our newsletter in record numbers, excited to discover new experiences. They trust our curators because we only feature properties that meet our high standards. If Jetsetter thinks a vacation is exceptional, so will they.”
The number of Jetsetter sales has more than doubled since launch, and the site now features up to 15 sales per week. Unlike competitors, Jetsetter’s offers span the globe and include boutique and iconic hotels in style capitals from New York to Shanghai and posh resorts in the Caribbean and South Pacific. Jetsetter’s signature vacation experiences have included a Serengeti safari, a wellness trip to Morocco, a villa rental in New Zealand, a guided climb to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro, and a VIP package to the Super Bowl.
Jetsetter responds to member feedback with several site enhancements:
– Sharing Sales: Because few people want to travel alone, members can now share sales with friends via email, Facebook and Twitter.
– Hold Function: Members needing time to plan without the risk of inventory selling out can place a vacation on -hold. Rooms can be placed on hold for an investment equal to 10% of the vacation price, later applied to the purchase. If the trip is not purchased, this is refunded as a Jetsetter credit to be used towards future trips.
– Upcoming Sale Calendar: A new calendar outlines upcoming sales.
– Sale Reminders: When members see upcoming experiences that interest them, sale reminders enable them to be ready when events begin, which is important in Jetsetter’s first-come-first-served model.
– Editorial Review: The editorial review page was enhanced to spotlight the trip’s most compelling features and make travel planning easier. The comprehensive review provides recommendations for things to do in the area, where to eat and suggestions for how to get there.
Summer Vacation Makeover: Jetset Farryn encourages travelers to stomp on the ordinary and run towards a memorable vacation to some of her favorite destinations:
For the annual family vacation: It might sound like something only George Clooney can afford, but a villa can be an economical way to vacation with the extended family. So pack up your sister’s brood, your twin brother’s twins, and the grandparents because we’re heading to Zenaida Beach & Tennis Estate, a stunning property in Anguilla that sleeps up to 14 people. Spend lazy days on a quiet beach or admire the views from the property’s large infinity pool.
For the long weekend getaway: Chicago is not the destination that comes to mind when thinking about a summer weekend getaway but we beg to differ. The Windy City offers an endless array of museums, outdoor summer events, shopping, nightlife and great dining options’ without the oppressive summer heat you’ll find in other cities. The stylish James Hotel is within easy walking distance to all the famous Magnificent Mile has to offer.
For the honeymooners: Put in the extra travel time required for the ultimate romantic destination far from ordinary. Situated just below the equator in French Polynesia, Le Taha’a boasts 48 sexy over-water bungalows and 12 beach suites with spectacular views of Bora Bora in the distance. The private dinner on the beach is one meal you’ll both never forget.
For old friends yearning to relive their college spring break: Reminisce about the good ole days in the Out Islands of The Bahamas. Bimini Bay Resort, on the island of Bimini, is an easy 25-minute flight from South Florida. You’ll feel much farther from home once you’re soaking up the sun (and a cocktail) in the infinity pool or relaxing with a beachside massage. The resort offers several accommodation types’ from condos to private homes’ so you can bring the whole fraternity or just the pledge class.
For the bucket list: For an eco-chic safari experience, spend 10 days touring Tanzania in swanky accommodations with My Serengeti Safari. Watch hippos yawn in Arusha National Park, spot lion cubs scampering around Tarangire National Park, marvel as giraffes nibble spiky leaves in the central Serengeti and visit the Ngorongoro Crater, home to 30,000 large mammals – with the highest predator density in the world.
For the nightlife connoisseur: Maybe we’re biased, but we think New York has the best nightlife on the planet. Whether taking in an art exhibit on the Upper East Side or dancing til dawn in the Meatpacking District, The Ace Hotel is a strategically placed home base centrally located in up-and-coming NoMad, the newly minted hood immediately north of Madison Square Park. With the city’s best gastropub, DJ playing music in the lobby, and one of the top coffee houses in the city, you may not need to leave the hotel for a good time.
