An Interesting Mix of Activities & Distractions in Guyana, South America

February 15, 2019 by Dave16 Comments

The final touchdown could not come soon enough. 39 hours prior I left my place in California for the airport at 430am. After a night in Miami (part of which involved nearly a 2 hour drive to go 3.1 miles from the airport - you think Los Angeles traffic is horrendous, think again), I finally arrived in Guyana. Most people I told prior to my trip that I was going to Guyana greeted me with a blank stare. The few older folks correctly equated Guyana … [Read more...]

My Top 5 Reasons to Take a Cruise

December 5, 2018 by Dave4 Comments

One of my favorite destinations for cruising is in the Caribbean - with island nations typically 60 to 100 miles apart, one can visit a different country nearly every day. It is a destination where one can just as easily opt for a short cruise or a longer one and still be exposed to different countries and cultures. And with plenty of beaches and year round warm weather, I've found myself in the Caribbean every November or December the past few … [Read more...]

A former Portuguese colony, Goa is situated on the western coast of India which has a rich history. There is a unique amalgamation of Portuguese and Indian architecture and culture which attracts many tourists all year round! Compared to the other Indian states, Goa is overtly different. The population of Goa consists of Roman Catholics, Hindus and a small portion of Muslim community. Goan Cuisine: A Perfect Balance Of The West And The … [Read more...]

MGM Springfield: The Fresh—and Fun—Face of History

November 4, 2018 by Tom BentleyLeave a Comment

Ahh, NOW I see why those Old Fashioneds were appearing on our table like multiplying rabbits. Those canny mixmasters at the MGM Springfield’s Commonwealth bar were thinking if I had a snootful, I’d likely order their $25,000 “Indian Sidecar” drink, which is made with a 1901 Croizet cognac. Oh, I guess I should mention: if you do buy the drink, it also comes with a new Indian motorcycle. Why a 1901 cognac and why an Indian bike to go along with … [Read more...]

Enjoy an unforgettable weekend in magical Monte Carlo

July 4, 2018 by Rik OLeave a Comment

You would need a magnifying glass to find it on a map of the world, but the tiny European principality of Monaco, and specifically its capital Monte Carlo is hugely evocative to people from all walks of life. Followers of celebrity gossip know it is the playground of the rich and famous – its marina contains scores of multi million dollar yachts, and from Grace Kelly in the 1950s to Kim Kardashian and Beyonce today, it has always been the … [Read more...]

Alabama’s Newest Summer Destination for Family Fun

June 28, 2018 by Tomeka Allgood1 Comment

In the summer of 2017, a new amusement park opened its doors in Foley, Alabama. OWA, pronounced like oh-wah, is located just 9 miles from Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, Alabama. It is the only park of its kind in the state of Alabama and the Gulf Coast as well, since Hurricane Katrina destroyed Six Flags New Orleans in 2005. OWA is the perfect destination for family summer fun along Alabama's Gulf  Coast. The name OWA was inspired from the … [Read more...]

Amsterdam might be one of the hottest tourist destinations in the world, but if you only have a few days to spend in this amazing city, you can’t waste a moment on popcorn fares. You want the good stuff, the spots that will stick with you long after you’ve left. That’s what we’ll be looking at today.
