I was priveledged to visit Qatar several years ago on a several day stop over between some other countries in the region. I flew … [Read more...]

My Visit to Singapore

January 29, 2021 by DaveLeave a Comment

My first visit to Singapore was about 10 years ago - it was just a weekend stop therefore despite being such a small country, I did not have time to fully explore the country. Although I did get out out of the city and visit the world renowned Singapore Zoo. This time (in early 2019) I stayed in the city. Singapore is known for its wide range of 5 star hotels. One of the most iconic and visually attractive due to its unique architecture and … [Read more...]

January 1, 2021 by DaveLeave a Comment

On 19 August 2020, at 14:19, baby Aurora Wolteck was born in Dettingen Konstanz on the border between Germany and Switzerland, completely unaware of the Arctic adventure that had unfolded nine months earlier. Brazilian Cachaça trip day 7: Luis Alvez and Itajaí

May 17, 2020 by Peter BanksLeave a Comment

I’d been on the road for a week when I woke up in Itajaí, my last full day in Santa Catarina. The storm clouds had cleared and there were people getting in their morning exercise along the dishwater gray beach. An old couple sat on a park bench holding hands. I was on my way back to Luis Alvez to take a look at the fermentation and distillation processes. It was rush hour when I left. The city moved languidly around me as I maneuvered over … [Read more...]

April 22, 2020 by Kevin Nelson1 Comment

On a recent trip to southern California, with some time on my hands on a Monday afternoon, I decided to point my wheels toward a place that had always intrigued me: the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum. One of 13 presidential libraries in the United States, it sits atop a hill in the suburban enclave of Simi Valley, about forty-five minutes from downtown Los Angeles.
